View Full Version : John Ruiz: "Toney Nothing More Then A Tune-up"
Rick Reeno 02-22-2005, 12:03 PM World Boxing Association heavyweight champion John "The Quietman" Ruiz promises to silence mandatory contender James "Lights Out" Toney in their impending title fight. Ruiz-Toney goes to purse bid February 28 in Miami and it has been mandated to be held within 90 days. [details (http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=739)]
Drug Fiend 02-22-2005, 02:04 PM this is the guy who gave one good rd against Roy Jones Jr,
got put down twice against golota and escaped with a win,
was koed in 18 seconds by tua and only has a belt because
jones relinquished it.
what an assclown
Kid Achilles 02-22-2005, 05:08 PM Ruiz does suck but I think this fight will be very competitive due to his size and strength advantage. I see Toney winning, but it won't be as easy as Holyfield was.
Drug Fiend 02-23-2005, 08:17 AM maybe ruiz can make toney fight his fight but i
see it the other way.
toney decision win.
unless ruiz breaks tradition and goes for the kill.. :boxing:
I actually see Ruiz winning this one. Toney is not a natural heavyweight and does not have the skill of Roy Jones to outbox Ruiz.
box99 02-23-2005, 12:04 PM Toney is up there with Jones, he got better and was not that bad when they fought many many years ago. So, Toney wins by UD
Ruiz does not have skill or speedto do much to Toney :damnit:
Palma 02-23-2005, 12:07 PM Ruiz is talking so much crap! Has he forgotten the whipping the smaller RJJ gave him!? At least he and Toney having something in common.

LOL!! Good point Palma. Does anyone here actually believe that this fight is going to happen>?
the giant one 02-23-2005, 07:04 PM A fighter as unbelievingably boring as Ruiz has no right to ****talk. I wont pay to see this fight but i would for a replay if Toney knocks his ***** ass out. God I hate Ruiz
Yousuf5 02-23-2005, 07:09 PM yea youre right
Lenny 02-24-2005, 12:47 PM Toney likes to bull**** as well. He told that he could beat the **** out of Klichko bros. and Sanders the same evening. I dont like both clowns!!!
warped 02-24-2005, 12:59 PM Toney exaggerates, but Ruiz is just delusional. So much for the quietman.
I don't really like either of them, but I hope Toney punishes him.
Kimmy 02-24-2005, 03:54 PM I tend to lean towards Ruiz. He uses his size advantage well in terms of clinching and one to two punching then clinching. He is very smart at what he does and Don King does hire very friendily judges and refs to allow Ruiz to get away with it.
Toney might do enough work to win but Ruiz and Don King get a UD on the scorecards!

toney will win the fight, ruiz will win on the scorecards IF IT ACTUALLY HAPPENS. now, that ruiz is talking **** i want to see him get knocked out more than ever :D
fatcity 02-26-2005, 08:19 PM John Ruiz will put me to sleep faster than a case of 24 beers! He is a disgrace to the heavyweight champions of the past or the future for that matter. One can only hope that a smaller Toney can bang Ruizs body enough to make him fall into a hole and never return! As for his manager,Stoney,he's nuttier than a fruitcake and one of the most belligerant individuals ever to grace a boxers corner. It'sot entertainment which he gives,it's an embarrasment!Good riddance to both of these nutbars!
Shaolin Bushido 02-26-2005, 08:22 PM Toney is 5'9 and 70 lbs past his prime. As much as I detest Ruiz I can't pick Toney to win this one.
