View Full Version : Oscar Larios
itsbusdriver 02-22-2005, 12:15 AM I was just watching a rerun of the Oscar Larios and McCulloh fight on fox and was just wondering what if Larios moved up to Featherweight.. Do you all think he has what it takes to be one of the elites in the featherweight division? How would he do against JMM, Pac, MAB(at 126) and Morales(at 126)?

Larios swarm style wouldn't pose much of a problem specially with his lack in power. He couldn't pull out a win with any of them.
itsbusdriver 02-22-2005, 01:04 AM So how would Oscar Larios fair with Joan Guzman? You think Joan Guzman would be a better fit and have better chances against the elite 4 of the featherweight class?

Absolutely. Guzman is a hell of a puncher and can do a lot of damage with any punch. I also think he has better boxing skills than people give him credit for. Larios would present some of the feathers trouble with his range but Guzman would have the better shot at beating the top feathers strictly based on his punching power and ability.

I agree, and the further he moves up in weight the further that power's effect will diminish...
itsbusdriver 02-22-2005, 01:12 AM thanks guys for your input... I've seen some of Joan Guzmans fights and boy does this guy have power.. He is fearless and has skills.. he is 27 years old and should be in his prime.. you guys think he should move up for the bigger money fights?

Eventually. He did fairly well against Joe Morales and he was out of shape and overweight! That was at 130 I believe. If he moves to feather, man I'm telling you he'd be a bigger threat than Larios.
mr. bojangles 02-22-2005, 04:08 AM From what I saw in his last fights, i.e. Kiattisakchockchai, Nakazato, Hussein and McCullough...Larios IMO tries to overwhelm his opponents with his volume-punching. Looks more like powderpuff than powerpunches actually. Also, that pressure style of his would fit with JMM's and MAB's counterpunching and Pac's forward attack style...like a glove. The Big 3 will knock him out, as Israel Vazquez and Agapito Sanchez has already proved - his chin can be cracked.
Joan Guzman looks tougher and hits harder from that lone video I have of him vs. Fabio Oliva.
JOM'S 02-22-2005, 04:29 AM If He Wants Bigger Bucks He Should Go Up To Fw Or Fight Joan ...
the giant one 02-22-2005, 10:14 AM Guzman is gonna kill Larios. That Mccullough fight was a load of **** in terms of the judging.

IMHO Guzman-Larios match-up will be definetly an exciting fight and the winner will be catapulted to fight the big boys of the FW ...

Im thinking Guzman wins. How would u rate a matchup between him and Pac?
Soundtraveler 02-22-2005, 03:39 PM What a great fight that was between Larios and Mccullough though!
I don't see how the scoring was so far apart though, I had the fight very close with Larios winning it in the last couple of rounds.
I would love to see a rematch as I really hated to see either fighter get a loss on his record in that one. They both gave everything they had, and I mean everything!
:biggthump I applaud both fighters for the outstanding effort....
abdiel2k3 02-22-2005, 03:43 PM larios could hang with them all
and ofcourse i think he can give pac problems and outwork him
there was supposdly close to maken a fight for the Superbantam belts unifcation
