Other than that just work on varying the pace. spinksjinx 02-21-2005, 04:02 PM wassup man to the guy who started this thread there's more things u can do than u can think of www.speedbagcentral.com Awesome hook up on the link, cycling while punching would be crazy...This would definately improve your coordination, Id like to see someone effectively pull that off. Rock_fght 02-21-2005, 05:58 PM I cant seem to get on the part of the speed bag central where it says about "the many ways tho use a speed bag" it onely says how good the site is. my speed bag workout is rapping at it both hands for about 1 and a half minutes. and then 45 seconds with right and left. 30 seconds rest in beween. then after that I usualy practice jabs on it. DrDac 02-21-2005, 08:57 PM I recommend watching the clip of jesus gonzales on the speed bag. He does a lot of the advanced moves that are mentioned on the speedbag website. You can find in at 15rounds.com under "videos" at the top of the page. The fella is simply amazing on it. buff_mike10 02-21-2005, 09:36 PM I like to punch it with a hook, then back hand it with the same hand, then that sets it up for a hook from the opposite hand, then backhand with with the opposite hand. You can get that ball looking like a blur, and every now and then throw an elbow in there. After you really get good you can even throw a head butt at it, but it takes alot of practice boxer2k5 02-21-2005, 11:44 PM damn that speedbag site is crazy my speedbag skills are jsut on basics i never really practice it im gonna jump on that friday sicne i cant do no real hard workouts speedbag 02-22-2005, 01:32 AM
I cant seem to get on the part of the speed bag central where it says about "the many ways tho use a speed bag" it onely says how good the site is. And they also have the four tape series: http://www.ringsideboxing.com/store/prodinfo.asp?number=SBV%20S&variation=&aitem=13&mitem=102 its the best way to learn to master the speedbag. kahuna 02-28-2005, 01:59 AM
For learning the Speed bag, the only source is the book The B]Speed Bag Bible book and videos. I agree. I got to attend a seminar by the guy who wrote it in Sarasota Florida Last year and he has to be the best on it and best instructor. He had us all hitting from behind the bag, sides and elbows. He even got beginners hitting it pretty good in just a few minutes. I've seen the Jesus Gonzales video, and he's great but he stops every few punches to start over again. He can't keep it going non-stop. this guy can smoke it for minutes on end non-stop, AND hit it like a drum to any song you play. and, he is also the nicest guy you ever want to meet. he even Stayed several hours after it was supposed to be over, working with people and helping us. If he ever does another down here, I'm in! COME BACK TO SARASOTA! Does anyone know anything about it? It is less expensive than The SBB, but is it as good? I would don't want to end up getting one and wishing I got the other. :( Slipx 03-03-2005, 11:08 AM i will never in my life purchase a book about a training technique, complete waste of money. all the info is out here on the net to find, don't waste your money on rossboxing or a speedbag bible love2_punch 03-04-2005, 12:44 AM i will never in my life purchase a book about a training technique, complete waste of money. all the info is out here on the net to find, don't waste your money on rossboxing or a speedbag bible so I guess we should just burn all of these: http://store.yahoo.com/titleboxing/instructional-books.html and these: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/002-9531515-9940835 Sorry, Slipx, but if you think ALL the top quality training information EVER published, on hundreds of subjects, sports or otherwise, is all available free on the internet, than I guess you don't read much. Purchasing top quality training manuals or information about any subject you are passionate about is NEVER a waste of money. at least, not to me. BOKSukraine 03-05-2005, 04:12 AM I swear I've gained nothing from teh speedbag other than a way to warm up the arms. elizapunch 03-05-2005, 09:42 PM I have heard the Speed Bag Bible is good, but I found this other book about the Speedbag called "The great speed bag handbook" by Dale Wolters. Does anyone know anything about it? It is less expensive than The SBB, but is it as good? I would don't want to end up getting one and wishing I got the other. :( For my money, there is no comparison, the Speed Bag Bible (SBB) wins hands down. I've had it (and the video) for over a year and still haven't learned half of whats in it. I just recently bought "the great speed bag handbook", since it was only $10.00, to check it out. Even at that cheap price, I was greatly disappoint. :( It's only 64 pages, (SBB is 230pgs) with 6 dedicated to warm up stretches, and 3 more advertising all the rest of "the great... handbook" series. ( more on that later.) It covers some very basic, beginner info, and shows several punching techniques and combinations with sequenced color photo's. But the guy in the picture only uses a boxer fighting stance, not a shoulder squared stance. And the combinations shown are very simplistic. All from the front of the bag with jabs, Straight and Circle punches. I think most boxers would breeze through this in a week or less, and then be left looking for more. I think this entire "speed bag handbook" is covered by chapter 4 of the SBB, with 9 chapters left to go! For instance, I'm hitting from all around the bag with fists and elbows, and I'm less than 1/2 way through the SBB. and the author of "the great speed bag handbook" is also author of "the great heavy bag handbook", which are just two of a "the great.....handbook" series. see them all: http://www.productivefitness.com/handbooks.htm These books appear to all be entry level-beginner information on the listed topics. I haven't seen any of the others, but if the "speed bag handbook" is any indication, most people will be left looking for more information very quickly. For Speed Bag, Stick with the original "Bible", but that's just my opinion. :p Dropkick 03-12-2005, 03:25 PM For my money, there is no comparison, the Speed Bag Bible (SBB) wins hands down You are right, Elizapunch. I bought the speed bag bible, since it is much more comprehensive, but also decided to get "the great SB handbook" since it was so cheap. What a waste of money. I should have put the $10.00 i wasted on that book toward the Speed Bag Bag Bible video.. :( Now if I can just find something about double end bag. |
