Sure, it'll be an old one for some of you, but I've only just seen it myself. Two marks of 115-111, another of 116-111, even after Floyd was docked a point for using the elbow? How on Earth did the judges invent that?

View Full Version : Wait... Mayweather WON the first fight with Castillo? !! Anorak 02-21-2005, 11:25 AM Sure, it'll be an old one for some of you, but I've only just seen it myself. What I actually said was he didn't win the first Castillo fight... I never said he wasn't any good. TyrantT316 02-21-2005, 11:46 AM Did I say he wasn't then? Anorak 02-21-2005, 12:11 PM no not good...."God"I do like what I've seen, but I don't think he won that fight. DiegoFuego 02-21-2005, 12:27 PM A bad decision, so what? Everybody experiences them sooner or later BrooklynBomber 02-21-2005, 12:50 PM A bad decision, so what? Everybody experiences them sooner or later Well being so easy on bad decisions is trully bad for boxing. The whole idea of boxing is " let the best man win" and in that fight Floyd was not the best man. This is one of the things that truly hurts boxing. DLT 02-21-2005, 01:49 PM Sure, it'll be an old one for some of you, but I've only just seen it myself. Two marks of 115-111, another of 116-111, even after Floyd was docked a point for using the elbow? How on Earth did the judges invent that? I think Floyd won the fight clearly but I am a Mayweather fan so I might be biased. Castillo also had a point deducted in the fight so that cancles eachother out. I think most people just had never really seen Floyd get hit that much before so it makes it look like he's losing the rounds even though he's really winning them. If he wasnt Floyd then alot of people wouldve thought he won. If I can remember right, he clearly won the first 5 rounds so for people to say that Castillo won means he had to win the last 7. Maybe but I doubt it. Floyd atleast won one round to make it a draw and I thougt he won 3 more or atleast 2. If you dont think he won the first 5 then watch it again. P.S. Another thing is the ref. This is when I try to tell people that the ref can make a big difference. Most of Castillo punches were landed when they were grabbing eachother and Castillo was still punching. You could tell that Floyd wasnt use to this. Zoo does that alot also. The ref allowed it but then you have a ref like Nady who everytime Ruiz got close or tangled up with Jones, he immediatly broke it up. Thats why Ruiz said that the ref wouldnt let me fight my fight. Nady basically made him just straight up box with Roy. In the second Castillo fight, I dont think he landed 10 regular punches the whole fight. The only time he hit him is when he was grabbing Floyd at the same time. If Floyd had Nady then he wouldve won both easily. Close fight though but I gave it to Floyd WillieW 02-21-2005, 02:02 PM Naw, Floyd won it. He landed more. Castillo seemed to land the better punches but Floyd dictated the pace and landed more. Simple as that. I, like most, like to see the the more aggresive guy win, but the aggresion has to be effective enough to throw the other guy off...Floyd never seemed too phased. It was a good close fight, but I gave the edge to Floyd. !! Anorak 02-21-2005, 02:10 PM I tell you what, I'll watch this again, because I had to watch it in two halves (The first time I'd time out mid-way through the 11th round). It's been a week since I saw the first bit, so I'd actually forgotten that Castillo had a point docked... he should have been at least warned for punching on the back too. I'll watch again.. good fight though. !! Anorak 02-23-2005, 06:06 PM I watched it again and I was even sad enough to score the rounds. I think the first time it was the shock of seeing Floyd having to ship some blows and being influenced by the commentators ("OKAY, JIM....") On the second count - and it was CLOSE! - the official Anorak scorecard gave it to Mayweather 115-113. DLT 02-23-2005, 06:37 PM I watched it again and I was even sad enough to score the rounds. Alot of people who think that Floyd lost have never watched it again. The commentators heavily influnced the decision that Castillo won. Most dont like him so much that they wanted him to lose anyway. It was a close fight but Floyd pulled it out. !! Anorak 02-23-2005, 06:40 PM Cool man, atleast your honest. You could make an argument that it should have been a draw and that Castillo should have retained, but Hell... you could also argue that it should have been counted as a KD when Floyd dropped him in the third and that Castillo should have been docked two further points for rule infringements. Good fight though, and I guess that's the main thing. dino 02-24-2005, 03:58 AM yea floyd won both the fights....anytime a fighter is a "underdog" when he lands 1 punch everybody goes crazy...castillo was easily outboxed in both fights julDilla 02-24-2005, 04:07 AM Naw, Floyd won it.
