View Full Version : Erik's bro telling him to attack pacquiao...
chito 02-21-2005, 12:02 AM Erik's younger brother's advice is for him to come forward and attack pacquiao, will this become a good idea? The reason for doing this accdg. to him is because the pacman doesn't know what to do if he's being pushed backwards. I know pacquiao will be the aggressor here right from the 1st bell, but what if morales bring it to pacquiao right away, what could be the ill-effect of this to the pac-man? i don't know the answer so im asking the boxing experts here, anyone?

I think it will be a replay of the first round JMM fight. That's exactly what the Team Pacquiao wants to happen - to entice Erik to brawl toe-to-toe with Pac right at the start because they're confident Pac has the advantage in such a situation (Pac having more speed and power and Erik being a larger target). And if this happens, I too believe that Erik is a goner very early in the game. :boxing:
Marjoh 02-21-2005, 12:20 AM This is one of the reason I'm picking Pacquiao. Though Morales have superior skills, his heart scraps his gameplan in the ring in favor of going to war. But that's also what made him popular today. He could outbox Pacquiao for a UD. But I guess that's not the reason why this is the most anticipated fight of the year, yet.

It will be Hagler-Hearns of the featherweights!!
btw that weight division featherweight prolly sounds really embarrassing to the fighters
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 02-21-2005, 01:29 AM I think his brother is smart and knows pacquiaos biggest weakness shown in the JMM fight was that he couldnt fight going backwards.
Freddy roach saying they expect Morales to not box as soon as he gets hit and that being his downfall could be an attempt to make Morales not rush Pacquiao who would need to have his rear foot set to throw devastating punches back.
I dont know if Morales realizes that as long as he comes forward and is relentless in his attack he would have an easier fight (IMO anyways).

Yeah let them go at each other early on. If this happens one of them will be down soon :D
abdiel2k3 02-21-2005, 01:35 AM its no secret manny isnt really effective when hes going backwards
watch the jmm-pac fight
freddie keeps tellen him to do nothin but go forward
course we saw in the first round
if u push forward u have to keep it up
jmm was agrresive but then let pac breathe which was when he managed to move forward and drop him 3 times
so yes
it is good idea to try to make manny back up
but its also a dangerous and tough thing to do
Sir_Jose 02-21-2005, 01:35 AM I think Morales would be best served going back and walking Pac into uppercuts.

UNLIKE Manny Pacquiao whose brother recently absorbed a neat boxing lesson, Mexican Erik Morales has a world-ranked bantamweight brother to lean on for vital fight inputs.
Diego "Pelucho" Morales yesterday advised his more illustrious brother to initiate the action and take the fight to the Filipino hero when they clash at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for their 12-round duel on March 19.
"Erik should move toward Pacquiao's right side, and press the action," the 25-year-old southpaw, a former World Boxing Organization (WBO) super flyweight champion, told Box-Latino yesterday.
Good attacker
The younger brother of the Mexican legend, who is himself ranked World Boxing Council (WBC) No. 1 and World Boxing Association (WBA) No. 3 bantamweight, added that Pacquiao is only good on the attack, but doesn't know what to do when he is on the defensive.
"Pacquiao is like a machine that throws stones, but doesn't know what to do when he is attacked,"
he explained.
For Morales, this could be the key which both Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez failed to exploit. The two Mexicans had been on the receiving end of Pacquiao's vaunted left with Barrera losing by TKO in 2003 and Marquez needing a big rally to salvage a draw last year.
The younger Morales is currently staying at the Otomi Mountains assisting his brother prepare for the much-awaited Pacquiao showdown.
Lean training team
For the first time in 10 years, the Mexican has been training without his usual retinue which used to include a doctor, nutritionist, cook and physical conditioning coach.
This time, he has trimmed down his team to include only his father-manager Jose Morales, his brother Diego, and trainer Fernando Fernandez.
Serving as Morales' sparmates at the Otomi Mountains in preparation for Pacquiao are Alirio Rivero, Rodrigo Juarez, Fernando "Wary" Beltran, Junior, Julio Gamez and Lupe Rangel.
Pacquiao is training under American Freddie Roach in Los Angeles and missed seeing his younger brother Bobby, the reigning Philippine junior lightweight champion, lose by a knockout in the ninth round last Friday to a Thai fighter Manny had demolished in 2002.
oldgringo 02-21-2005, 02:00 AM Morales would be best off by fouling Pacquiao very early in the fight...hit him so hard in the nuts that he can't feel his legs...eat the 2 point deduction...and then take it to Manny with an all out assault.
Sir_Jose 02-21-2005, 02:00 AM DONE . :D
