HockeyFighter 02-20-2005, 06:31 AM Sperry defeats Yokoi by TKO (knees) RD 1
Vovchanchyn defeats Takahashi by KO (punch) RD 1....one of the first punches of the fight, about 1 min
Werdum defeats Erickson by RNC RD 1....put him down with a combo and finished with the choke
Tamura defeats Makhmud by Submission (exhaustion) RD 1....Tamura kneed him in the balls, wrestler had time to recover then gassed bad
Kharitonov defeats Bae by TKO RD 1....dropped him with punches
Nakamura defeats Leko by TKO RD 1...takedown to punches, ends inside a minute.
Shogun defeats Kanehara by TKO RD 1...soccer kicks
Nogueira defeats Overeem by Decision....sounded like a close fight with Overeem taking round 1, a close round 2 and Nogueira almost KO'ing Alistar in round 3.
Jackson defeats Ninja by Split Decision...sounded close again, apparently Rampage said "I didn't win this fight" after the decision was announced, Ninja upset with decision. From the pbp they both took each other down alot which kinda surprises me that Ninja could take down Jackson that much.
Cro Cop defeats Coleman by TKO.... Coleman couldn't take him down and ate alot of punches
HockeyFighter 02-20-2005, 06:32 AM I went 10-0 in my picks
thanks for the results....
Cesaro 02-20-2005, 01:12 PM Coleman looked 80 years old in his fight and Erikson looked 105.
It wasn't even a combo that put down Erikson, there were no punches involved. Erikson was sprawling on Werdum's attempt at a single leg and trying to get control of his head. Erikson gave up on head control, fell down to turtle position, it was so slow, and his knees were so far apart. Erikson didn't make one attempt at moving for the next 10-15 seconds until he escaped the choke by tapping out.

Fallout 02-20-2005, 06:43 PM I went 9-1
I am disapointed in Erickson. He didn't lose that fight, there was no fight. It was a grappling demo almost. He went to his knees and tapped out. It was embarrassing.
Fallout 02-20-2005, 06:45 PM Also, I don't know why Jackson was saying he didn't win. I thought the decison was correct, but Ninja did much better than people thought he would. Both got some nice takedowns, both did some damage. Quition just got more takedowns and did more damage.

mmafanman 02-21-2005, 12:46 PM I'm surprised that Ninja was able to compete well enough against Rampage to lose by a close decision. I thought Rampage was going to walk all over his bloated ass. I'm starting to wonder how much those brutal losses to Silva took out of him.

Rampage looked like he was really out of shape for this fight. He was really gased by the end of round two. If he wasn't such a naturaly talented fighter, he would of been in SERIOUS trouble.
HockeyFighter 02-22-2005, 12:12 AM I see alot of people on other forums saying "if Rampage was in shape Ninja would be in trouble". All I have to say is that if Ninja was in shape Rampage would have been ****ed.
Shaolin Bushido 02-22-2005, 01:49 AM Coleman looked 80 years old in his fight and Erikson looked 105.

Too bad my ass woulda been killed; I sure as hell was on it!
warped 02-22-2005, 02:01 AM Great pics.
Too bad about Leko - did he finally earn his can status?

Too bad about Leko - did he finally earn his can status? He is roundly being booed on MMA forums around the world at this very moment.
warped 02-22-2005, 02:37 AM Erg, just watched Cro Cop/Coleman and Mark looked every bit his 40+ years. Looked like he was trying to take down a brick wall and then it became target practice. Mirko looked sharp as ever, but if he thinks that match will warm him up for Fedor...heh.
GeNeRaL 02-27-2005, 12:29 PM All i can say was this Pride didn't seem to be as good as alot of the more recent ones, imo. Rampage needs to lose the bible and shave the melon again or something, lol. It was a decent one, but nothing spectacular.
