View Full Version : Forrest Griffin vs Anderson Silva K-Yo 07-27-2009, 05:32 PM There is no thread on this so thought I would make one, who have you guys got, I think the smart money is on Anderson but Forrest might be capable of an upset, Silva didn't impress last time out. What do you guys think?? F l i c k e r 07-27-2009, 05:51 PM I feel bad for Forrest. Forrest is a damn good technical guy who doesn't make many mistakes but I just see this fight not ending well for Forrest. I see Anderson doing damage, he probably wont(or at least I hope he wont) play around. So I'm guessing we will end up seeing the Forrest we all know and love vs the Anderson that makes really good guys look like trash. I see Silva getting the W by TKO. Rocky... 07-27-2009, 05:55 PM I hope forrest does it :boxing: jakkups 07-27-2009, 06:02 PM I feel bad for Forrest. So I'm guessing we will end up seeing the Forrest we all know and love vs the Anderson that makes really good guys look like trash. I see Silva getting the W by TKO. I see the same outcome. Anderson's problem as of late is that he hasn't got a challenge in front of him at 185. The best of what was there he has beaten, and beaten decisively. With Cote and Leites you had a couple of guys who didn't come to fight Anderson and were pretty much looking for the door. With forrest he's gonna have someone who will bring the fight to him and get right in his face. That's what Anderson needs to be the beast that we've seen in the past. He's always been one of those fighters that performs well when he is being put under pressure or with a fighter who won't back up an inch. $ LegenD $ 07-27-2009, 06:19 PM im gonna sit back and enjoy this one....i wont even lie if forrest so happens to pull off the impossible and win im gonna get so sh$tfaced that night.....couldtn't happen to a better person but in the end were most likely gonna witness a pure ass whoopin that will lead to the big one: silva vs. gsp!!! fallenloki 07-27-2009, 06:30 PM Silva by a brutal ass raping. And whoever said it... Umm, Forrest is not a good technical guy. $ LegenD $ 07-27-2009, 06:36 PM ^^^i just caught that too...not too many mistakes huh....i think he made plenty against rashad, ortiz, jardine, and especially against bonnar....a true warrior for sure though K-Yo 07-27-2009, 06:38 PM I don't think Forrest will be as reckless as he has been in the past, he learnt from Jardine, hopefully he will do it but got agree with the majority and think Anderson might win it decisively Palma 07-27-2009, 06:56 PM Forrest via sheer determination and good ol HEART !! If he can hold and contain Silva on the ground then he may win this via decision. wojosh6 07-27-2009, 07:02 PM Silva by TKO...then he loses a UD to GSP! Do you think a Silva vs GSP card will beat UFC 100 in PPV sells? fallenloki 07-27-2009, 08:37 PM ^^^i just caught that too...not too many mistakes huh....i think he made plenty against rashad, ortiz, jardine, and especially against bonnar....a true warrior for sure though Forrest makes a lot of mistakes, but he is blessed with the ability to take a pretty good lickin'. The guy has tons of heart, but that will only take you so far. I think this fight will prove that. kswizzy99 07-27-2009, 09:09 PM There is no thread on this so thought I would make one, who have you guys got, I think the smart money is on Anderson but Forrest might be capable of an upset, Silva didn't impress last time out. What do you guys think??Forrest isn't capable of an upset IMO. the guys that he upset were Rampage because Rampage is a one trick pony who can only punch and Shogun had terrible conditioning and just got exhausted. Silva fits into neither of those categories. I think Forrest's style is perfect for Silva to pick apart. I don't know how Forrest can do to have any success in this fight. I feel bad for Forrest. Forrest is a damn good technical guy who doesn't make many mistakes but I just see this fight not ending well for Forrest. So I'm guessing we will end up seeing the Forrest we all know and love vs the Anderson that makes really good guys look like trash. I see Silva getting the W by TKO.I think thats a typo and you meant to say Silva. Because Forrest is not a technical fighter and definitely isn't flawless. Nodogoshi 07-27-2009, 10:50 PM Silva KO1. We are starting to see the TUF fighters against real opposition. That is not to say that no good prospects have come out of the series, but Bisping and Forrest are not top fighters. nela 07-28-2009, 12:04 AM Anyone know how much weight Forrest usually cuts? Unless Forrest recently took a crash course in Couture-Dirty Boxing, it's hard to see him pulling this one out, and that would be contingent on him having a sizable weight advantage. If Forrest can turn it into a clinch game, without getting destroyed on the way in, and muster some takedowns he could have a shot. If he tries to leg-kick his way to a victory(vs. Rampage), he'll end up getting Sandman'ed I'm afraid. Who knows though, Anderson hasn't been in a tough spot in awhile save for the 1st round against Henderson and he wasn't in any huge danger even then. Forrest can take shots as well as anyone and keep on coming, so maybe he can force his way into a clinch and footstomp his way to victory! Has there ever been an MMA stoppage due to footstomps? If not, maybe Forrest can be the first. F l i c k e r 07-28-2009, 01:53 AM I think thats a typo and you meant to say Silva. Because Forrest is not a technical fighter and definitely isn't flawless. Nah, I think Forrest is pretty technical. If he comes in like he faught Rampage, that was technical. He isn't the most crisp, devestating and accurate striker but he gets the job done when he stays calm and plays his cards right. Silva will probably make him look horrible though. I just have a huntch that Silva will come in not playing around and probably TKO him like Rashad did. StillUnknown 07-28-2009, 10:50 AM i dont think he's going to try and stand with Anderson. i think Forrest will use his strikes mainly as an attempt to setup and takedown or to get Anderson against the cage where he can use his size to his advantage problem is, i don't think Forrest is quick enough to disguise his shot attempts to the point where Anderson wouldn't see them coming. Anderson is pretty good at using his footwork to escape when someone shoots on him. i think if forrest fails at a couple of takedown attempts, he'll resort to standing with Anderson, which will be Forrest's demise in the fight. standing he's too slow and doesn't pack 1 punch KO power. Anderson will counter him and pick him apart and finally finish it midway through the 2nd round phallus 07-29-2009, 07:52 PM forrest will lose but he'll last longer than the sandman. i'm expecting a more entertaining fight than we've seen from silva lately but i don't think it goes to a decision Nodogoshi 07-29-2009, 08:53 PM forrest will lose but he'll last longer than the sandman. i'm expecting a more entertaining fight than we've seen from silva lately but i don't think it goes to a decision This fight reminds me of Bisping-Henderson. You've got a TUF hypejob against a truly elite fighter, with heavy knockout power. Also, the TUF hypejob is a fighter who will engage, hence the result should be a highlight real knockout. Why the hell do you think the UFC made this fight? I'm sure it is because they think Forest will engage, but get KTFO all the same, and Silva will once again look like the maniac who twice brutally KOd Rich Franklin. phallus 07-29-2009, 09:25 PM This fight reminds me of Bisping-Henderson.
