View Full Version : Has Anyone Here Went on one of those Intensive Driving Courses.
paul750 07-26-2009, 06:58 PM Has anyone here went on one of these? Did it work out well? I know it's probably not ideal, but it looks tempting. I've never really thought that much about driving until recently. It can be a pain in the arse at times not being able to drive. Plus it can be helpful when you're looking for other jobs/careers etc.
So yeah, I might give this a go. So do any of you have experience or info on this? It's only 5 days apparently.
Mozza 07-26-2009, 08:09 PM I haven't personally done it however I know a few people who have and none of them passed. I'd recommend doing at least a few lessons first.
Rocky... 07-26-2009, 08:14 PM If you have the money go for it, if it dosent work out you can always start taking leasons normally, and youll probaly only need a few :D

It probably depends on the instructor. I'll see if I can get some sort of test run with the instructor before I part with a lump sum of money. If it doesn't feel right then I can try someone else until I get the right one. They say people who have driven before are actually at a disadvantage, as they pick up bad habits. That's something in my favour then, as I'll be starting from scratch.
Apparently if you fail, they take you back and give you a certain amount of hours free, and then put you back out for your test again. It doesn't seem ideal by any stretch, but I might give it a try.
sick- 07-26-2009, 08:33 PM I'd go for the normal lessons. perhaps 1 lesson a week
TRAVI$ 07-26-2009, 09:26 PM I mean come on... "went"?
Pot Noodle 07-27-2009, 05:55 AM I went with normal lessons, started off with 2 hour lessons for about 5 weeks, then went down to 1 hour, I passed a barrier when I started going out in my own car with my mum, you don't have your driving instructor there to control the the brakes or clutch and telling you what to do, instead you concentrate more yourself on what you're doing.

It was a mistake. Make sure you don't have a heart attack there, professor.
TRAVI$ 07-27-2009, 10:48 AM I phoned my mother and informed her of your grammatical error.
paul750 07-27-2009, 09:27 PM Yeah, I didn't even put a question mark at the end either, which shows I probably wasn't in the best state of mind at the time.
Lol, damn, I never thought the day would come when someone on this site would point out a grammatical error. No disrespect to anyone, of course. I shall try to be more aware of my writing in future. I guess I'll need to be aware on the road too, eh.
Being the rather inquisitive soul that I am, I decided to take a quick look through your threads, and I noticed an error or two. So you may keep your eyes peeled on your own writing as well young man!
Anyway, I think I'll go through with this course when I pass my theory. Like I said, I know it's not ideal, but I can't be arsed waiting 6-12 months doing it the normal way.
TRAVI$ 07-28-2009, 09:15 AM Good luck, wit dat.
Joe2608 07-29-2009, 09:44 AM I did one, i passed so quickly. You get so used to driving in the 5 days that your skills develop instantly. Doing 1 lesson a week is stupid and a waste of money as you never get used to it.
Spambo boy 07-29-2009, 04:46 PM I ownly came in hear 2 dis teh gramma, but Travis beet me too it.
