In a matter of days Affliction Entertainment's "Trilogy" event when from promising the top heavyweight fight in mixed martial arts to being cancelled outright, multiple sources confirmed to SI.com Friday morning.
Affliction Entertainment vice president began making calls with the news Friday morning to fighters scheduled to appear on the Aug. 1 card, SI.com has learned.
The abrupt change comes in the wake of 31-year-old Josh Barnett testing positive for banned substances following a California State Athletic Commission pre-fight drug test.

That could well be the end of Affliction MMA events altogether.

This could be great for people who want to see Emelianenko in the UFC.

I agree 100% with the first part.
The second part. Is Fedor will likely go to DREAM where he can beat up on more cans and opponents with losing records

You make it sound as though Fedor is scared of the UFC competition. I don't buy this for one second.
It is clearly the UFC's boarderline illegal contracts which have been the sticking point in negotiations. Fedor is the best fighter in the sport, and when he fights people watch, period. Also, North America is not the only MMA market, so his popularity in the US is not the be all end all of his popularity level. Fedor has a tremendous following in Japan, as well as of course in his native Russia.
Even still, if the UFC and Fedor do indeed fail to get something signed, it is indeed the fans who lose, it would seem.
On a seperate note, maybe they could make Barnett-Fedor in Japan, where if I'm not mistaken steroids are not a banned substance:D

I never said he was scared, but in Japan they'll give Fedor pretty much whatever he wants money and opponent wise.
The UFC won't.

Josh Barnett is a SOB, he completely ruined AFFLICTION. Now im' pretty sure no one will want to have any business with him.
Sooner or later, Fedor will have to fight in the UFC. If not, he will be forgotten.

Barnett single-handedly killed the Affliction fight promotion. The least the UFC could do is hire him for his efforts.
In all seriousness this is likely the last we will see of Barnett in MMA, atleast in serious contention. He has effectively ruined his career.
I do hope that Fedor and the UFC can compromise. The UFC heavyweight division is quite weak at the moment, someone like Fedor would make it much more interesting.
