View Full Version : Would KT knock out Ward?
bobbyjones 02-17-2005, 04:20 PM I saw this brought up on another post comparing the fact that Gatti went 30 rounds with Ward whereas Kt would probablky knock him out in five, but I dont agree. Ward was a tough enough fighter that I think he would have lasted the distance even with KT...that being said, I still think KT hits harder than Gatti but I think to say KT would surely have knocked out Ward is a bit ridiculous because Ward just never got knocked out.
Mr. Ryan 02-17-2005, 04:21 PM Andre Ward? Kostya Tszyu would kill him. That kid is not going to go very far in my opinion.

Come on dude, there's only one ward that's worth mentioning in the same breath as kostya and gatti, and that's IRISH MICKEY. sheesh

haha no Mickey Ward...Gatti never fought Andre Ward and its too early in Andre Ward's career to tell what he is going to ammount to.

He has yet to show me anything special. He's got good reflexes, but average punching power. He can be hit.
Tszyu could possibly get him with body punches.

hah the point is that im not talking about Andre Ward, but at the same time I think that it is a little earlier to be condemning him to a career of failure. He still fights like an amateur because that is where he learned to fight. I am sure that Andre Ward will develope more as a fighter as time goes on.

I didnt know that KT was known for his body punches?...at least certainly not moreso than Gatti
elveiel 02-17-2005, 04:36 PM Wow, my comment caused a new thread!! :D
I stick with what i say, although i have a lot of respect for him, he's a very good fighter with a very good chin, Wards style is perfect for Tszyu.
Ward's defence is basically cover up and weather the storm, Tszyu punches with such force so IMO its impossible to take it for too long. Also Ward's body defence is terrible, his elbows are high leaving his body totally exposed.
Ward would give Tszyu a lot to thinks about(including pain) but its TKO by round 5.

Sir_Jose 02-17-2005, 04:50 PM Ward's corner would be forced to throw in the towel.
Tszyu would do some very very bad things to him.
dansweeney 02-17-2005, 04:53 PM ward would absolutely go the distance, i see tzysu hitting the canvas from a ward liver shot
Juan La Porte said that the hardest punch he ever took was a Tszyu body punch.
Shaolin Bushido 02-18-2005, 01:16 AM Yes, I think there's an excellent chance Tszyu would KO Ward. Ward never saw a punch he wouldn't eat ... but he would if Kostya ever punched him cleanly in the face. NO ONE Kostya's size would fare too well on a regular diet of his haymakers.
