I've got a quick question. How long did most of you guys train before your first amatuer fight?

The reason I ask is because I went to the this gym for the first time yesterday and the trainer keeps on pushing the idea that I could be ready for my first fight next month. I thought it would take more time than that just to start sparring. Dude does seem a little shady. I didnt say no, I just figure I'll take advantage of his enthusiasm for now. I'm planning to just train hard with him for the next month, then make my owen decision. Do you guys even think its possible to be ready for your first amatuer fight in a little more than a month? i have no prior boxing experience.

no way could you be ready for a fight in a month with no prior experience. go to a trainer with your best interests at heart.

yeah, i might do that. The guy is cool and knows his stuff, he just sounds like he's more into it for money. He promotes a lot of fights, so he might just be trying to fill some spots. The only problem is he's probably my only option at the moment.

for your first amatuer fight? with no prior experiance, well a month is all you'd need. It might be tough but you'll have to train atleast 3 hours a day, shadowboxing, running, hitting the bag, crunches, pushups, weight lifting (if its apart of your schedule) overall your just going to have to train like rocky balboa, all out dragon ball z intense 24/7, with sundays for rest days i guess :P

make sure you do interval running and hill sprints along with your roadwork to build up your stamina, and try to hit the mitts with the coach as much as possible and spar.

Let me guess here, your an over all athelete (playing many other sports before boxing) and your looking for something new.

I assume this is for amatuer boxing.

I had my first fight 2 months after starting, stopped the kid in about a minute. You may just have an ability for it and if your already in descent shape then over half the battle for your first bout is taken care of.

If your coach is going to match you properly, meaning against an opponent with 0 or maybe 1 bout then its fine. If hes looking for another "green" guy then why not.

But ultimately its up to you and how confident you are about taking a bout. Ya know, boxing is a huge part mental mind frame. Walk into a ring to fight doubting yourself and you will probably drop the bout. Walk in confident and ready to roll and you could just do somethin' good. Its up to you.

Also, that guy telling you that you have to train 3 hours a day 7 days a week must only watch Rocky movies. Do that and you will be so drained.

young kids maybe an hour 4 days a week
teens maybe 1-1/2 - 2 hours 4-5 days.

There is something called over training, do 3 hours a day 7 days a week, for a beginning boxer and I can gaurantee you that you will be over trained.

listen to your coach and do what he says. If you feel good inside about fighting than do it...............Rockin':boxing:

oh my then i must be overtraining, my schedule is to train 3 hours a day but 6 days a week, 24/7 just sounds more badass :p but yeah i train 3 hours a day and im only 15, people tell me that im over training but i cannot feel it, i do not see it, my body is not stiff, my muscles do not feel as if they are about to explode. I can run 3 miles in 17 minutes, there is no fatigue in my step.

Many people have gone through my life telling me i cannot do this and i cannot do that, but what i've learned is that when someone cant do something, they tend to tell others they cant to. I dont allow other people to tell me where my limits are, or what i can and cannot do.

You can tell me that im over training, or that i cannot do this becuase it is "scientificly" not healthy, but the human body is far less fragile than everyone seems to think it is. You just gotta believe

Jumping into this way to fast. This guy doesn't sound like a lagit trainer, he sounds like someone that is trying to take advantage of you.

It takes years to get ready to enter a tourney IMO. At least a couple to get where you want to be.

Ive already done what your doing probably 2000x over. Go ahead and train your 3 hours a day, its your life. im just saying, that especially at age 15, your going to do more harm than good. Let me know how your fights go...........Rockin':boxing:

haha well i hope that i go far in boxing, that is why i train so hard. I want to go pro and fight some big fights, eventually i want to fight for a world title and claim it of course :boxing: but more than anything i would love to have atleast one fight in my career that would be a total all out war like Gatti vs Ward.
