I think at 160 vargas doesn't stand a chance taylor, hopkins, trinidad would all knock him out.
I think that he stands a pretty good chance at 154 as the belt holder wright doesn't have a big punch. and the top like kassim ouma are not big punchers but at 160 he get's his ass whooped.
what he can do at 160 is send quartey back into retirement.

Vargas should incorporate some movement in his style and then he would a have a better chance in not getting KO'D. I agree with Floyd, He would do great at 154.

Mr. Cunt is completely off calling Vargas "Glass jaw". You should see his fight with Quartey (who dropped DLH) and even in his losses to Tito and DLH he showed that if anything has one of the biggest hearts in boxing right now, and that to keep this man down you have to hit him with a baseball bat. Vargas can take a punch.

Quartey hit him with everything except the kitchen sink. Breaking Fernando's nose in the process. I agree, Vargas has a decent chin, and a trememdous amount of heart.

Vargas is ****y, and beat one of my favorite fighters in Quartey. I don't like him outside of the ring but he definitely makes for exciting fights. I appreciate his heart...but he'd still lose to the top guys at 154 and 160. Is there really any evidence to prove that he'd beat a Sturm/Taylor/Ouma/Wright/Hopkins/Trinidad? (besides Wrights earlier slip up with him)

vargas fought top guys very young in his career i think it was a learning experience and can come back from that your just a hater.

Actually if you watch the fight, Vargas made it out of the 1st rd. only by some kinda divine interventio, cause he got the **** knocked outta him twice in the first two minutes of rd. 1. So to say that he stood longer than Mayorga is crap, because the last time I saw the fight he stood then fell then stood then fell then stood for awhile longer then fell a bunch of times! LOL!!!!

As for his big comeback, this guy is as done as anyone I've seen in awhile. He didn't take DLH's shots to well at 154, and anybody can see that Oscar didn't carry his power up in those higher weights like he should have(which imo is why he wants to go back to 147). Well I wouldn't say oscar didn't have power I would say that he was without the devastating power he had his whole career. In the hop fight he was clearly trying to avoid getting hit by Hop and not puting anything on his punches. Quartey when DLH and Trinidad was around were was the best in the division. He beat DLH. And in my opinion ball punching tactics were the only reason Trinidad survived Vargas. Vargas at one point was cleary showing his power to Trinidad. I remember that was the fight I lost all respect for Trinidad. He was clearly cheating in that fight, I havn't seen to many fighters hit the cup that squarely. Vargas is as tough as they come although a lil **** outside of the ring he was still a very good and exciting fighter. If he would have learned of dirty tactics before Trinidad he prolly would have had a better chance at Trinidad.

I agree. He can beat anyone at 154. The only person who would give him trouble is Wright (and he can't even punch...just like the rest of the 154lbers.) The ones who can punch are slow..

Wasnt the first time Trinidad had been floored though. Mayorga had little power at middleweight(look at his previous fights above welter). Mayorga was dropped by an accumulation of punches to the head and body. Vargas was hurt with one left hook. Which if I'm not mistaken..the same left hook that Mayorga allowed Tito to hit him with twice!

I'm just saying if you hit Nando on the button with a decent shot, you can put him down. He'll get up, but you can still put him down. Vargas has been away for sooooo long. He should definately take at least 2 tune up fights. If he fights at 154 i could see him clashing with Mayorga or Castillejo, whom are do to go at it later this year. Vargas is a warrior, but i dont think he would do good at 160.
