View Full Version : Genki Sudo versus BJ Penn Mr. Violence 02-14-2005, 04:02 PM This is a fight I always wanted to see...who do you think would win this if they fought? Mr. Beelzebub 02-14-2005, 04:11 PM Not likely to happen, not likely at all. With that said, Penn would tool Genki both on their feet and on the ground. Mr. Violence 02-14-2005, 04:12 PM Not likely to happen, not likely at all. With that said, Penn would tool Genki both on their feet and on the ground. why do you think it's not likely to happen? Mr. Beelzebub 02-14-2005, 04:17 PM Many reasons. Penn is not gonna go down to 155 lbs. and Genki will never go up to 170; Penn weighted 180 against Rodrigo Gracie. And even though both are fighting for K-1, it is pretty well known that Genki sometimes goes for the easier fights. Mr. Violence 02-14-2005, 04:20 PM Many reasons. I was thinking they could meet at a catch weight...they used to be at the same weight. That would be a shame if this fight never happens. Penn would most likely win though. Cesaro 02-14-2005, 04:21 PM Sudo probably would want to fight to be at 155 now. Penn's latest fight was at 185 and now he is challening Wanderlei Silva at 205. Apparently Silva said BJ Penn would be easy money and now Penn is offended. I think Sudo would fight a serious fight though, and I'd pick Penn on a controlling decision. Wanderlei Silva is making a mistake under estimating BJ Penn. Randy Couture helped train BJ Penn for the Matt Hughes fight when Penn was a just a welterweight, Randy said he could not keep BJ Penn on his back...even though he was much bigger than Penn. Cesaro 02-14-2005, 04:31 PM Silva/Penn would probably never happen, but I think it would be a good fight. Penn vs Henderson would be nice GeNeRaL 02-14-2005, 05:37 PM silva/penn would be huge $$ for the promoters. everyone would wanna see that. I think it would be far more even than Silva thinks. and i agree, hendo/Penn would rock. Penn vs Sudo... i think Penn wins this one fairly easily. Fallout 02-14-2005, 06:35 PM Penn would control Sudo on the ground and simply dominate him standing. Genki's biggest strength is his strange and sometimes bizzare style. He wouldnt get Penn with any of the B.S though. As for Penn vs Silva, Penn is out of his mind. He would lose so much of his speed at anything close to 205. He isn't the most ripped guy already. He would be a hawaiian Butterbean at 205. Not to mention the fact that anything Penn can do, Silva can counter. No, Penn is bluffing when he says he wants to fight Silva. He would be beaten to a bloody pulp. Zen 02-14-2005, 06:52 PM BJ would tool him. Too big, too skilled too good for Genki. HockeyFighter 02-14-2005, 07:37 PM Wanderlei Silva is making a mistake under estimating BJ Penn. Randy Couture helped train BJ Penn for the Matt Hughes fight when Penn was a just a welterweight, Randy said he could not keep BJ Penn on his back...even though he was much bigger than Penn. Silva has no interest in keeping Penn on his back. The only time Penn would be down is after Silva KOs him. Mr. Violence 02-14-2005, 08:36 PM Silva has no interest in keeping Penn on his back. The only time Penn would be down is after Silva KOs him. you're right.....Silva would keep it a standing fight....i still would like to see it though. kcfman 02-14-2005, 09:47 PM BJ Penn vs. Wanderlei Silva? Silva by landslide(who would pick Silva to win) BJ Penn vs. Genki Sudo? Penn by landslide (who would pick Penn to win) However Penn and Sudo are great mma fighters. Anything can happen. It wouldnt surprise me if Penn beats Silva (just like how he beat Hughes and surprised everyone) and it wouldnt surprise me if Sudo beats Penn (just like how he beat Royler Gracie and suprised everyone). If striking was the key element to win in a mma bout, Tank, Silvia, Liddell, Baroni, Trigg would be the best. However, you see Mir, Arlovski, Couture, Hughes, Tanner with the championship belts. Does Penn have a chance against Silva? Yes Does Sudo have a chance against Penn? Yes Will we see such matchups? Probably not because of weight differentials, and contract stuff. BUT, it would be great fights for the audience and fans to see! However, you see Mir, Arlovski, Couture, Hughes, Tanner with the championship belts. kinda biased there. your belt holders are all recent UFC winners and cage rings generally give ground fighting a the upper hand. most of your strikers don't lose because of standup vs. ground game- nearly all of em have a problem with gassing out too early. fighters like cro-cop, spratt, and silva will prove that striking is just as dangerous in mma. i guess when it all boils down to it, nothing dominates. kaps 02-15-2005, 02:10 AM Penn would own Sudo, badly, but not as bad as Vanderlei would destroy Penn.... Mr. Beelzebub 02-15-2005, 10:53 AM Genki just said that he wants Royce Gracie this year in a recent interview. Purity 02-15-2005, 11:24 AM now that would be interesting.... kcfman 02-15-2005, 11:49 AM kinda biased there. your belt holders are all recent UFC winners and cage rings generally give ground fighting a the upper hand. most of your strikers don't lose because of standup vs. ground game- nearly all of em have a problem with gassing out too early. fighters like cro-cop, spratt, and silva will prove that striking is just as dangerous in mma. i guess when it all boils down to it, nothing dominates. I realised that after I re-read it. The Pride champions are strikers. Ahh, must have been drunk! :D Purity 02-15-2005, 10:09 PM don't worry....i'm guilty of that often as well |
