View Full Version : "Lightning " Lee Murray
Mr. Violence 02-14-2005, 11:31 AM Any Lee Murray fans in here? I am impressed with this fighter's skills with his punches...he has some devestating hands. Anyway he has a feud with Tito Ortiz and claims he beat Tito's ass on the street...Do you think he has a real chance of beating Ortiz if he moves up to Light Heavyweight?
Cesaro 02-14-2005, 12:10 PM I think he knows he can't beat Tito in an MMA match which is why he asks Tito make weight at 200 pounds day of the event if they ever fight. Tito said he would do so, but nothing more was heard out of Lee Murray.
Now that Tito is away from Colin "Choke him with your legs!" Oyama, I think he might have a better chance at Liddell and Randy, too. I just hope he gets away from that "I can knock everyone out" mindset.
I dont care much for Murray, althought he's got some decent hands, Tito makes him look like a midget and would win fairly easily IMO....
Mr. Beelzebub 02-15-2005, 10:07 AM I hope Cote submits his ass.
Cesaro 02-15-2005, 10:26 AM Cote will submit his ass
mmafanman 02-15-2005, 01:16 PM Good power in both hands. Everything else about him is average. Watch the Anderson Silva fight and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Purity 02-15-2005, 10:12 PM he never beat Tito's ass on the street. about 20 witnesses say there was a quick blind sided sucker punch and then Murray bailed out. i dunno which is funnier: Tito rousting on him or Lindland rousting on him.

man- I wish I could hear the true story of what really happened..there's like 10 different versions of that story out there. I did think it was funny though when Lee Murray was calling out Tito in the UFC and Tito was sitting in the audience. :boxing:
Purity 02-16-2005, 01:36 AM granted, my story came when i was training at punishment and everyone was stickin to the same story of course. but Tito just laughs Lee off. to me, i would think that if Lee really roughed him up like he said, Tito would have quite a vengence towards him.

if ya'll dig deep enuf, on the underground forum about 5-6 months ago, Pat Militech posted the whole true story in a thread. He explained how Tito tried being mr. big tymer and thought he would just punk out Murray, only to his surprise when he rushed Lee countered with a 3 punch flurry that dropped the "BADBOY" flat, and then followed that up with a swift boot to the kool (face). He then went on to explain how Tony Frykland, and Matt Hughes (I think) , and himself managed to get Murray and his crew to leave it at that and then hurried Tito in a cab and back to the Hotel, only to be repayed by Tito in the form of blaming everything on Frykland, hence his being unable to get a spot on so many ufc's there for quite awhile!
Lee Murray is a good fighter with knockout power in either fist, decent subs( not real efficient but decent), and a good chin. He will get alot better mark my words. P.S. His fight with Anderson Silve imo showed that he is still very raw but he's a tuff ****er, I mean you gotta be a tuff **** to get rocked by someone as skilled as Silva is on his feet in the first 2 mins of rd 1 and still go the distance, I personally thought that he was too nervous in front of his home crowd in such a big fight!
Militech and Tito have had problems before, somebody should of gotten that **** on tape to end the debate once and for all. That wasnt Murrays first big time fight infront of his home crowd, a few months before the fight with Silva he fought Pele and won by KO....
jayschre 02-16-2005, 06:00 PM yes I know, I just meant that he was really feeling alot of pressure to ko Silva after winning big over Pele he probably felt that he had to ko Silva or else it wouldn't be good enuff for his fans! As far as I know Tito and Pat only had a problem when Tito started runnin his mouth about Pat's fighters juicing.
I see what your sayin. I thought Tito and Militech had problems before, there used to be a site that had a bunch of statements from fighters who where there, I think it was on the FCF site. I guess Tito and Murray are the only ones that really know what happened....
jayschre 02-16-2005, 08:59 PM True it's one of those things that we'll never know the entire truth about, and don't get me wrong if the two of them were to fight in the UFC I don't think Lee would win cause Tito would most likely do his usual boring ass lay and pray bull**** and win by decision, but if Lee could connect one of his bombs then the badboy would definately be out imo! Is it just me or has Tito now become by far the most boring fighter in the octagon?
I thought he looked pretty good against Belfort, he was able to get thru Belforts flurries and land some pretty good elbows on the ground. He stayed busy and pressed the action the entire fight. I'm not sure if Murray would have the same power at 200lbs that he does at 185. With Tito's contract being up and him asking a retarded amount of money to fight, we'll probably never find out.....

I really think that we will definately see Tito back in the UFC, I think he will drop his asking price to avoid having to go to pride and get smoked by any of their top 3-5 middleweights
Yeah, there aint no cage to press people up against in Pride. I think Rampage has said he wouldnt fight Tito though, with the next MW GP coming up, we might just see him go....

Yeah i forgot that him and rampage trained together with Oyama, that wouldn't be much of a fight anyways imo Rampage would ****in kill Tito. I really see no way of Tito being able to take Quinton down if Randleman couldn't, hell even if he did what would he do then no elbows in Pride equals no wins for Tito:p, the fights that I'd really like to see if he went would either be Tito vs. Dan Henderson or Tito vs. Randleman, even though I think he would lose both he'd fare alot better against Randleman. I just want to see Dana send Chuck, and Randy to the Grand Prix, cause I've been laughed at for quite awhile for this but I really think that out of all the fighters out there that Chuck has the best shot out of all the Lt. Heavies at beating and KO'ing Wanerlei. Call me crazy but I really think that he has the perfect style to take Silva out, his height and reach and deadly right hand is what I think would do it! Randy would imo beat Silva in the cage but probably not in a Ring under Pride rules, but then again every time you think Randy doesn't have a shot he steps it up and dominates:D
