Rakim and all these legends that are way out of their primes, shouldn't be dropping albums.

They are not hungry anymore, and they're new music usually sucks.

I would usually agree with this statement, but this does not apply to Rakim... 7th Seal is going to be ****ing DOPE... I hope he put some of those Dre produced tracks on there since he was able to leave Aftermath with all the masters he recorded while with them.

I really don't care to be honest if he drops or not. The Master wasn't that great anyway.

everything else was though, but I can understand why some don't care. too long, too many false starts, too many lackluster tracks in between.

love rakim. i have him p4p 2# greatest rapper of all time. that being said, its over for him.

Rappers are like athletes, they have physical primes & musical primes. Their skills deteriorate with age & success. Along with their musical/sporting relevance.

nobody is exempt from this, nobody.

I'm not denying his greatness or contributions to the game. I'm just not interested. But for me it's a majority of rap/hip hop.

I mean I still check for stuff @ times. But not a quarter as much as I used to. The game seems a bit weak overall in all sections of rap.

This is simply not true... How many people counted Nas out before Stillmatic? How many people counted EM out before Relapse? Both of those guys are considered ATG's that were on the downward slope before the albums I mentioned came out, and they weren't finished. Rakim knows that he has been dicking people around for a long time on this one. Anything less than a 4/5 album will be **** on by everyone and he will be considered "washed up." I dont think that RA is going to risk his legacy putting out anything less than a great album or dare I say it classic album. He still got it in him... I saw him in ATX a couple years back, and dude was still a beast on the mic...

wrong brah. relapse sucked. not arguable at all. still matic is good album but nas music didnt get better than ill matic. all these rappers legacies are set. we cant take anything away from what they did & the music they made....

that being said, they are in the washington wizards michael jordan stage. there's no coming back from illmatic, the blue print, marshall mathers lp, all eyez on me, get rich or die trying etc etc. even the late mike jack coudlnt come back from thriller.

mj in his washing wizards years aint gonna score 30 ppg & lead them to a championship. same thing with rappers.

nas, jay, 50, rakim have already won their championships & averaged 30 per game seasons . they cant duplicate it. they might come close, but they will never comeback.

everybody jumps the shark.

some good points, however, I'm pretty sure in MJ's first year as a Wizard, he and Kobe were the only players averaging 25ppg, 5 assists and 5 rebounds a game.
