View Full Version : Hamed vs. Barrera
!! Anorak 02-12-2005, 08:51 PM I know this has probably been discussed to death, but it's the first time I've seen it.
What was the actual score card again? I had Naz winning just three rounds... five at the very, very most. Having said that, most of the rounds were reasonably competitive, except for the championship rounds when Barrera completely took over. Oh, and the points deduction was legit.
I would have liked to have seen the touted rematch, with Naz dropping all the stylistic stuff and just going in there to trade. Is Naz the hardest-hitting featherweight of all time? There seems a lot of power there.
Even though he lost, I still think anyone's entitled to an off-night. Has anyone seen the documentary "The Little Prince, The Big Fight"? It shows how unfocussed he was, and how sloppy his timing was in training.
Yeah, definitely an off-night. His timing was terrible, his balance was off and he was looking for just one punch all night.
Credit to Emmannuelle Steward for admitting to Merchant during the 11th that he thought Naz was losing - how many trainers would be that honest? I've just seen a featherweight trainer (Scott Harrison's) claim he deserved to win, when it was obvious he'd got a home town decision draw. But back to Naz/Barrera...
Foreman's commentary was particularly annoying here. I loved one moment where he got patronised. "I think that was a left cross." "Well done, George."

!! Anorak 02-12-2005, 09:14 PM your a stupid bias ignorant.....I'm not even going to bother replying to this guy... he's sending me abuse by PM (and his PM tray is full, so it's not accepting replies) and he's just coming out with derogatory abuse like this.
You want to discuss something, discuss it. You want to just call names with no explanation as to why, or no back up of your opinion, then go and play your games with someone else, you silly little boy.

Why do you give your countrymen so much more credit than they deserve. It wasnt an "off-night" Barrera made it an off night for Naz, and turned off his career in doing so. If they fought again, Barrera would have KO'd. He rocked Naz on several occasions and had him Completely figured out by the last couple rounds.

I was just asking myself throughout what would have happened if Naz had fought a conventional fight.
I liked the commentary started off discussing Naz's power in awe... by the 12th round they were bigging up Barrera and saying Naz's wasn't all that.
Im from UK and ill admit that in a rematch same thing would have happened, i dont think Naz had an off night he fought how he always fought and just fought against an experienced and great fighter no big deal. He should have carried on its not a shameful loss to have

!! Anorak 02-12-2005, 09:27 PM your a f-cking idiot you started to PM me for no reason, and i pretty much told you to go f-ck yourself and leave me aloneNo, not at all. You attacked me in a perfectly innocuous upload thread, calling me names and telling me to stick uploads up my backside. I PMed just to ask what the aggro was about - I don't believe I've ever spoken to you before.
All the PMs I got back were childish drivel that didn't explain who you were or why you thought you had a right to speak to me in this way. All you seem to want to do is spout infantile abuse with no reason or rationale.
I started this thread for a serious discussion - if you don't want one, please leave it.

!! Anorak 02-12-2005, 09:34 PM Am I on his ignore list now? Thank God for that. I still can't understand how he seems to think it's me hounding him. Do you think he really believes that in that little head of his?
I'm trying to be on my best behaviour and I'm being harrangued by this joker. Maybe it was seeing "Barrera" that put him in such a bad mood for this thread...

bandito 02-12-2005, 10:06 PM barrera wins by ko if they fought again!!
.::|ULTIMATE|::. 02-13-2005, 06:29 AM The Brit commentators had it right when they said, "Hamed has simply been found wanting at this level of competition", "Simply outclassed"
And no Hamed had some pop but it was overrated, Wayne McCullough himself said though Hamed was physically stronger Morales hits harder.

In a way though, I think Hamed defeated himself here. Placing himself off balance for the whole fight doesn't help anyone... if he'd just planted himself, would it have made a difference?

It's just his style, his way of fighting. If he fought upright, on-balance, it wouldn't have been Prince.
I don't think it would have made any difference, because I don't see anything out of ordinary in Hamed, except the akward style and wide, looping punches.
I guess he was in over his head against Barrera, no shame in that.

I guess he was in over his head against Barrera, no shame in that.Yeah, but Ali had to modify his style later on... the thing that I thought was out of the ordinary was the Prince's power... I'd say he could hit harder than Barrera, and Barrera certainly wasn't going to war with him until the last two rounds.

Yes, but Morales hits harder, according to McCullough, and Barrera was in some awesome wars against him...
But who knows what would happen, right?
I mean, the rematches between some fighters are alot different to the first fight, and others are the same all over again...
So maybe he could beat Barrera.
