Post-Fight Antics Dim Lesnar’s Afterglow at UFC 100 On a night when he stood alone atop the UFC heavyweight division, Brock Lesnar’s behavior -- not his destructive, one-sided victory against Frank Mir -- was the subject of post-fight discussion on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Lesnar unified the heavyweight championship in only his fifth professional appearance, as he bullied his way to a technical knockout against Mir -- the only man to defeat him -- in the UFC 100 main event. His tirade afterward -- which included a low blow to the UFC’s primary sponsor, Bud Light, waving his middle fingers at the audience, taunting Mir and exposing plans for a post-fight sex romp with his wife -- drew the ire of UFC President Dana White.
The 32-year-old Lesnar claimed he was headed out to drink a Coors Light because Bud Light would not pay him any money. One of the UFC’s highest-paid fighters, he made $450,000 in disclosed pay for his TKO victory against hall of famer Randy Couture at UFC 91 in November.
“I was blown away,” White said. “I don’t think in the history of the UFC we’ve had anybody do that. It’s not who we are, and, to be honest, it’s not who he is. You hang with these guys personally, and you get to know them. If he was a dick, I’d tell you right now this guy is a psycho and I don’t know what I’m going to do with him. He’s not. He’s a smart guy. The sponsorship thing was the craziest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.”
Lesnar’s antics drudged up memories of his days as a World Wrestling Entertainment superstar, when showboating and pushing the envelope of taste were encouraged and profitable. White claimed he confronted the apologetic champion in his dressing room after he left the Octagon.
“Brock went so far over the top, I can’t even put it into words,” White said. “WWE -- that’s what it is. We had a talk. We talked like men, and he said he was sorry. He said, ‘I’m embarrassed by what I said.’ I take his word for it this time.”
Dorian 07-12-2009, 04:37 AM He had the post fight press conference(can watch it at UFC.COM) and he appologized...
Dorian 07-12-2009, 04:39 AM He was just amped and he said it himself, he's a sore loser and really wanted revenge...
I understand the guy.

I understand the guy.
Exactly, it was the heat of the moment and he later apologized.

Liaison 07-12-2009, 04:54 AM And apologising to Bud to, lame...
Clegg 07-12-2009, 05:04 AM I seem to recall him taunting Heath Herring after their fight ended as well. That looked like a dickhead move to me. The guy just seems like a bit of a prick tbh.

bud light is ufc sponsor.
money talks. he can't bite the hand that feeds him.
if a football player talked crap about say spalding or whoever has a sponsorship with the league , trust me they'd make that football player do the same exact thing.
James 420 07-12-2009, 11:26 AM Although wrestlers generally do well in MMA (NCAA) he has been treated like **** for 18 months by MMA fans because of his WWE involvement and he took it out on Frank Mir last night. The finger to the fans is real, he can apologize all he wants, he was...is pissed and had enough.Keep booing this guy and he will take it out on his opponents. Until Lesnar gets some respect he's going to hurt people.Last night Mir paid the price for the fans lack of respect. If people want Lesnar to lose... cheer him.
MJ406 07-12-2009, 11:33 AM yeah and to be honest sure a "WWE wrestler" fighting MMA might look like a joke
according to MMA purists
but look how Lesnar beats the crap out of his opponents.
not like he holds them down for 3 rounds and inflicts zero damage.
th4l3pr3ch4un 07-12-2009, 03:16 PM Yeah i dont know what the fans expect, they boo the **** out of him and act like its a big deal when he flips the crowd off and gets crazy on the mic...
If anything dan henderson should be the focus of poor sportsmanship, that was completely uncalled for when he layed that devastaing elbow to bispings face.. that was embarresing for the sport... thats no worse then beating a guy up who is already knocked down, and going up to him and kicking him in the face afterwards on some street ****.. i dont see a difference.
UFC has been in the direction for a very long time imo.. The sport is split between guys who are always going to be a class act win or lose ( Randy couture, Urijah Faber, Mike Brown, Big nog, etc...) and guys who get absolutely crazy any chance they can get. Just look at the ultimate fighter... every ****ing season there is someone starting fights in the house and tearing the place up... People need to either except the fact that fighters arent always gonna be great guys, or Dana needs to prove that he means it when he says the UFC is not WWE and start penalizing these guys when they act up.

Lesnar needs to say something along the lines of,
"Listen guys, I know that you're gonna boo me, but I'm winning these fights to entertain you. Thanks for coming blah blah blah"
And it will be all better. Much more money and respect, no more roid-raging attitude.

That is why you guys are the spectators and they are the participators.
the traveler 07-12-2009, 04:10 PM The Henderson shot seemed fine to me. But between Lesnar's antics and Rampage humping some girl during an interview, mma is looking terrible right now. They need to do some damage control.
Did Lesnar really say that he was going to get it on with Mir's wife? If so, I'll root against him till he retires.
Nodogoshi 07-12-2009, 04:25 PM He’s a smart guy.
L O ****ing L

That's a bit comical.

Lol, these guys are professional fighters. If he's pissed durring a fight it basically works against him.
And no, Lesnar gets no respect.

He said that he "may actually get on" his own wife.
the traveler 07-12-2009, 04:38 PM lol ok. Why would he say that to the media?
clown.
Blair_Wells#32 07-12-2009, 04:43 PM :lame: No matter what Brocks actions were last night haters would still try and find something wrong with him.
Nodogoshi 07-12-2009, 04:44 PM He said it in the ring post fight. The dude's an idiot.

glad you brought this up, and not to throw stones, but I'll use it as an example.
I think everyone who's watched the Ultimate Fighter can attest to the craziness ... more or less bunch of people in a house getting really drunk and doing stupid sh*t .. think MTV Road Rules or Real Life .. the only difference being Ult Fighter has fighters instead of crazy College kids, and no girls
and I'd like to note (you prob know this) but Dana White has thrown fighters off the TV show for exactly what you said, that not only what they're doing is dangerous, but it doesn't positively promote the sport.
However I don't think Dana can maintain it, because while the man is right in that fighters getting drunk on TV and wyling out is not a good idea
it's kinda hard to say that's bad
when he's the President of the Company, and is known for often giving profanity laced interviews.
**your right about fighters at times behaving poorly
but IMO the President of the company talking like someone you'd hear in a Tarantino film is no better.
yes the fighters represent the sport of MMA, and as long as they fight under the UFC that as well
but Dana White excessively using profanity also reflects poorly (in a different sense granted)

Dude I don't think anyone cares if Brock has fans. We are just describing events which occured.
Nutthuggery -> biasness.
MJ406 07-12-2009, 04:47 PM He said it in the ring post fight. The dude's an idiot.
Lesnar is walking proof that you don't have to be smart, to kick ass.
Nodogoshi 07-12-2009, 04:50 PM Lesnar is walking proof that you don't have to be smart, to kick ass.
Lol, I use to think that you did, however I guess universals are rarely so. Brock's one of those guys that if you looked inside his skull, you would just see a big muscle.
Blair_Wells#32 07-12-2009, 04:52 PM your hate makes you bias as well an that was my point, no matter what brock did last night you'd still find a reason to hate him.

The difference is I'll admitt my biased. I will tell you straight off, I don't like brock, therefore whatever I say may be considered in this light. That doesn't automatically mean that what I say is invalid.
