Say whatever you want, but the man was very smart by taking Alves down, he was dominating the stand up as well and even dropped Alves but why risk everything by standing up with a guy who is 190 pounds and has a one punch/kick knockout and is the strongest guy in the welterweight devision?

Duh, dont act stupid. We all know LnP is a smart way to fight. We are just saying it is boring and GSP has been doing it for a while. As his REAL fans we want to see GSP be exciting again. Not saying KO's and **** but at least performances like he had with Hughes the 3rd time. Some striking, some wrestling, even a submission. Not take you down, lay on you for 25 minutes and win easy.

With Hughes/Fitch and some other fighters he did strand up and trade as well, but duh, dont act stupid. Alves is the strongest guy at WW, if he were to stand it would have been lights out for GSP. With Alves he had no other option if he wanted to win, besides take him down, tire him out and GNP.

its kinda weird how some fans are, reminds me of the machida/Sylvia comparason i made awhile back both have the same fight strategy and when Sylvia did it he sucked and was boring as hell but when machida employs the same thing he's brilliant and great.

same thing with GSP and lets say Sherk or Guida both employ the lay and pray strategy and everyones on them bagging them saying their boring as hell..........switch it over to GSP and all of a sudden he's the smartest man in MMA....it just boggles the mind.

Yeah, ever since Serra that is all GSP does. Dont give me that "he stands up too." no he doesn't. It's called "setting up the takedown." Sherk does a 1-2 and then shoots. GSP lets him feel comfortable and then shoots. Same ****, just different action to set it up.

I know what you're getting at man, but Sylvia and Machida is a bad comparison. I know you're talking about strategy, however Machida is far too skilled to be mentioned in the same breath as Sylvia.
