View Full Version : Andrew Golota Fight Moved Again!!
Atwa_66 02-12-2005, 01:40 PM Golota title fight moved to May 21
February 9, 2005,
Bill Wirtz isn't going to let the NHL lockout prevent him from watching a fight at the United Center. The Blackhawks owner said Tuesday he is eagerly looking forward to hosting Andrew Golota's heavyweight title bout.
The fight against World Boxing Organization champion Lamon Brewster has been rescheduled to May 21 and will air on HBO.
''The United Center is extremely excited to host this heavyweight championship fight,'' Wirtz said in a statement. ''This marks the return of big-time boxing back to Chicago.
''As far as my relationship with Don King is concerned, I might be 75 years old, but I'm much younger-looking than Don King at 73.''
The Cory Spinks-Zab Judah rematch that King promoted last weekend in St. Louis drew 22,370 to the Savvis Center, reportedly a record for the largest crowd to attend a boxing match in an indoor stadium.
''We want to beat that at the United Center,'' said King, who believes the UC could be configured to hold 23,500 for a boxing match.

This is ridicolous!
First it was March 19th, then March 12th
Both dates at Madison Square Garden
Then they said it was April 16th, in Chicago Illinois
It is now set for the following date
Saturday, May 21st, 2005
The United Center, Chicago Illonois
Don King Productions
Andrew Golota vs Lamon Brewster
For the WBO Heavyweight Title

Atwa_66 02-12-2005, 02:19 PM Why the hell would the champ Brewster agree to fight Golota in Chicago?
It was originally at the Garden, but because of March Madness, they couldn't do it there, so now it's in Chicago. I have no idea why the champion would want to fight the challenger in his home time, doesn't make too much sense.
Nobody cares
If you don't care, then don't post on the thread?
joeboxer 02-12-2005, 02:45 PM Is Chicago Golota's home town?
And regarless Brewster wansts to fight there because no one wants to see him fight anywhere. If they have a packed house Brewster gets a good portion of the money from attendance.

yeah Golotas hometown is Chicago, and I agree, haha Nobody wants to see Brewster fight anywhere. I think Golota is going to KO Brewster early in this one, and finally he will get a belt

Golota will definitly knock Brewster down early, but if he pulls the "Black Rocky" **** he did against Wlad, its going to be a long night for Golota.
ejk22 02-12-2005, 03:16 PM One things for sure, Golota unlike Wladimir will not be winded by the 4th round. Meehan had Brewster in trouble and had no idea how to put his man down, guarantee you if Golota gets Brewster in trouble the way Meehan did it's lights out for Punky Brewster.
QueenCity 02-12-2005, 03:28 PM I don't know but I'm really looking foward to Brewster getting the bejesus knocked out him, the fight can't come soon enough for me!
Marjoh 02-12-2005, 03:42 PM Though I'm not really excited about this fight, I may attend the fight live just because we don't get fights here in Chi-town. I just hope the undercard is decent.

I've heard Ricardo Mayorga could be in the undercard, and he always puts on a show in the ring.
Atwa_66 02-12-2005, 07:49 PM I'm really looking forward to this fight
I was planning on seeing it live
But they moved it to Chicago, and I'm in Pennsylvania
I wish it was at the Garden, fights as msg are great
joeboxer 02-12-2005, 08:41 PM Golota has such a bad history at the Garden I'm suprised they would let him come back there.

Bad History is true
But the fact that last fight he embarassed Ruiz and still lost
Proves how Don King fixes the fights to unbeleivable limits
Anjew 02-15-2005, 05:46 AM I don't think Brewster has any possibility to decide where the fight will take place. It's King fixing everything and Lamon is just a guy on payroll. Moreover, a guy whom King would like to lose the title. Chicago location guarantees a big crowd of Golota fans, esp. that also Tomasz Adamek is fighting for WBC LHW title vs Paul Briggs that night. If we have 2 champions on 21st May, Chicago will be drunk til next weekend... ;)

C'mon, now Atwa, Ruiz won all but 2 or 3 rounds of that fight and Golota should have lost '2' points for hitting Ruiz once he was on the canvas, so that would have swung the decision 3 points more. That's all I'll say about it but there's plenty of threads on the boards about it.
Golota/Byrd could have gone either way, though. Golota/Bowe should have gone Golota's way, but we won't get it to that either...

Hey neil you a lil pissed cause your guy lost the ellection? LMFAO you liberals are all pretty funny. Any way the whole southside Polski population gonna be at this fight and I guarentee it will be violent in the United center. Those polskas get way too drunk and beligerant. Man its gonna be wild, they better hope Golota wins or if he loses it'll have to be by KO cause those perogi eaters will tear the west side apart on there way back to midway!
enadeus 02-15-2005, 02:38 PM I wonder if Golota is going to come out with the eminem song lose yourself. That would just be terrible.
DiegoFuego 02-15-2005, 02:40 PM Golota will lose his third title shot in less than a year, hahahahaha
enadeus 02-15-2005, 02:40 PM Golota by KO. No doubt about that.

Commendable effort. First you instigate the whole thing by bringing up the election when it has nothing to do with the thread topic. Next you resort to casual bigotry for a cheap laugh (a favorite tactic among the neo conservatives), and to top it off your post ends with a biblical term.
Again, good work, you've made King Bush II proud.
Eyeh8you 02-15-2005, 04:05 PM Um where to begin. Neil has "neo-liberal" crap all over his signature. So he bringsup that chit. Bigot? how? Because I grew up on Southside and know for a FACT that it is the biggest polish population in the country. Thats twice i've schooled ya son. Lastly. BIBLICAL!!!!!!!!!
LMFAO its a lyrc from a slayer song (Stain of Mind; Diabulos in Musica). MAN IM ALWAYS right and you ***** liberals are as usual always wrong. Long live Howard Dean :D LMFAO
Fareastwarrior 02-15-2005, 04:49 PM Golota will finish his job this time. Lamon has just no quality to beat Brewster

Lamon can't even beat himself is what yer sayin
Neuraxis 02-15-2005, 05:05 PM Golota will finish his job this time. Lamon has just no quality to beat Brewster
Lamon has power which Golota does not like one bit. This, like most Golota fights should be an interesting fight.
abdiel2k3 02-15-2005, 05:18 PM damn

I wouldn't hold my breath for a double title. Briggs is going to destroy Adamek. :D

Yeah, they do go crazy. When I was at the Garden they went nuts, but they didn't flip out crazy when Golota lost, there was more shock than there was anger, since everyone thought he owned Ruiz. But they were starting fights in the stands in the middle of Rahman-Meehan, they are all behind Golota 100% and all power to them

They'll probably do it anyway...
BTW it's 'pierogi'...
Andrew wins this time. As for Ruiz fight, I don't want to start a pointless discussion, but Neil, saying Ruiz won all but 2-3 rounds makes me think you were really drunk that night...
Neuraxis 02-16-2005, 02:06 PM Apparenlty Oquendo v. Moorer has been added to the undercard.

It's funny that you can spell something as complicated as "FloydMayweather" but can't spell something as simple as "Golota". Let me guess, you copied and pasted "FloydMayweather" didn't you?
Anjew 02-18-2005, 04:28 AM GranTorino, LOL, probably.
PS. I hate when those pricks offend fighters on the net, when it's obvious they would never have guts to tell them that face to face.
Eyeh8you, I don't know those cookies, maybe they're special for another part of Poland. I have an American friend, who lived in Poland for a couple of years. I asked him why he came here to stay. He said 'for Zubrowka and sledz'. Ever tried this Polish flavored vodka called Zubrowka? I really recommend! Sledz is herring, we make it many ways, I love it too.
Anjew 03-04-2005, 05:29 AM Brewster was sparring with Albert Sosnowski, a Polish HW, and got beaten up... It was a hard fight which 'Dragon' was dominating and at the end even the Lamon's corner admitted that he beat Brewster up. LOL.
> Brewster was sparring with Albert Sosnowski, a Polish HW, and got beaten up... It was a hard fight which 'Dragon' was dominating and at the end even the Lamon's corner admitted that he beat Brewster up. LOL.
So, how about Sosnowski taking a shot for a title, isn't he ready yet?
Anjew 03-07-2005, 05:20 AM Well, I don't know if he's ready for a title fight, but he has a decent record and is making his way up the ranks. In Miami in Feb (before Mayweather fight)he 2R KO'd some guy named Connelly. I guess in some time he will be given a chance to face a good HW in USA.
masterdirector 03-07-2005, 06:32 AM Golata? Ugh. Lamon Brewster...champion? No, it isn't real. We have no heavyweight champion right now. All four champions are a joke. A former middleweight is one of the best heavyweights right now. Can't wait to see him take out Ruiz.

You have a spell checker for people names with an automatic launguage translator (all in one). Wow, this is probably the next generation hightec (made in China) available in Walmart's kids department :bottle: ? Say how many bucks your dady spent on it :fest30: ?
Atwa_66 03-09-2005, 11:55 AM Andrew better win this fight then retire
Why would he retire? He said he still feels young, and fights young?
He shouldn't retire even if he lose (e.g by close UD), he still can detronize Vitali. If he win he will have a big chance to unify at least 3 belts and then he can retire. I see him fighting well for the next 2-3 years, that would be 5-6 fights.

Mike Tyson is IMO just as bad. He was looking for a way out of the Holy fight, and did something more mcabre than low blows. You can also argue that He is a bigger dissapointment than Golota as well. If you are going to criticise Golota for wanting out of fights, look no further than your favorite fighter.

I agree with you on some points. However at least Mike Tyson was champion a couple of times in his career. When he retires at least he can say that. Golota needs to win this fight against Brewster or I am afraid to say that he is finished. Don't forget this is coming from one of the biggest Golota fans around. No one wants to see him be champion as much as I would.
Anjew 03-10-2005, 03:05 AM Andrew MUST beat Brewster, if he doesn't, he should give up boxing, IMO.
