View Full Version : to run or not run?
Alexandros 07-10-2009, 12:44 PM ever since i started box i never runned, because im afraid some of my friends will tease me and make joke that im a manny pacquiao wannabe. As u know people just tend on pushing me over because i look kind of weak on my physical. I never told some of them that im boxing and if they see me jogging around the hood they might fukin tease me and ****.
I wanted to run so i can have stamina go active all through out the rounds as i have problems sometimes with stamina and when ran out of air i just backup and cover then hug at every opportunity when he comes in so i can recover from being tired and the enemy will just bomb me with his shots my trainer calls to throws some punches and counter and i wanted also but my body just can't coz its tired. I have not lost in my 3 fight yet so far coz i tend to comeback in the after i recover but i feel like im going not to make if i get to face more experienced enemies coz so far my enemies are beginers too like me, and sometimes i spit my mouthpiece so there would be break. lol :banghead:
MANGLER 07-10-2009, 12:47 PM Umm...**** that criticism ****. You a boxer, you gotta do roadwork. Run, and tell your peeps that'd tease you for bein a fighter to STFU.
-PedoBear- 07-10-2009, 12:49 PM im with mangler on this...
your friends arent the ones in the ring with you... they dont know **** about what you need to do... tell those lazy f*ckers to get off their ass and run too....
millions of people run every day, its great for your health, not just boxing!

so run
FeFist 07-10-2009, 02:10 PM Granted you should run, you should at least do some form of cardio like swimming. Actually thinking about it, I remember hearing that a pro boxer swam instead of doing road work because it's less damaging to the ankles.
Shadow boxer 3 07-10-2009, 02:15 PM fuk em'. run all u want. running is an important part of boxing training. i run everyday. if they tease u, then so what. pretty soon u will be able to kick all their ass

Juan diaz and klits don't.
Phenomkidd 07-10-2009, 02:41 PM If I saw you jogging I would assume you're just jogging for exercise. Don't sweat the BS, focus on your game and do what you need to, to improve it.
John125 07-10-2009, 07:13 PM run everyday and be proud to be a boxer

:wank: yes i would like dat!!!!
Kinetic Linking 07-10-2009, 08:30 PM you're right that retreating and clinching isn't a viable strategy at the highest level. Manny pacqiuao simply doesn't stop fighting at a very high pace for an entire fight. And he does do an absolute ****load of running.
Shadowboxing and various bag drills might help more, first, though. I know it's heresy, but not every fighter runs. Make sure you fix your endurance problem, but don't necessarily assume running is going to do the job because it won't by itself. Without fight specific movements trained, you'll still get very tired.
_LOAD_THE_LEFT_ 07-10-2009, 08:42 PM If you dont mind getting punched in the face when your tired then dont. If you wanna do something about it then run. Your gonna face harder opponents later so i would run. as for your friends, after a while I think they would get tired of teasing you and if they dont, pound them out when you get better..........nahh.......jk...........
Run............
JoHnNyBoXeR 07-10-2009, 10:27 PM running is important .. i run through some pretty bad neighborhoods .. some guy on my block called me rocky balboa the other day being a wise ass.. funny thing is ill **** his wife lol

nikekicks 07-10-2009, 10:46 PM if your afraid of someone making fun of you because you jog then gtfo of this sport
MKultra 07-11-2009, 01:21 AM Go to the gym run on treadmill if its that bad.
To people saying the get made fun of for "trying" to be a boxer while running. How do they even know you box are you guys wearing everlast shirts to run?
Alexandros 07-11-2009, 01:29 AM no, because they know im not an athlete and when see me jog they will think im a wannabe. Coz people in my neighborhood most are fukin *******, and specially if they find out im into boxing they will go and put me down like "dis kid not gonna make it lololol"
Alexandros 07-11-2009, 02:54 AM how about if just run inside the house in the garage for like 1hour? our garage is kinda big it has a halfsize basketball court, so dat those ******* would not see me.
Phenomkidd 07-11-2009, 03:04 AM no, because they know im not an athlete and when see me jog they will think im a wannabe. Coz people in my neighborhood most are fukin *******, and specially if they find out im into boxing they will go and put me down like "dis kid not gonna make it lololol"
What do you think happens to most athletes who aspire to be great? They probably told Michael Jordan "he won't be as good as Dr. J." Told Manny Pacquiao "he's ok but he'll never be a big name fighter, who's the Philippine's last great fighter?" The fact of the matter is they always put you down until you finally reach that level of mastery/skillfulness/etc that changes the way they think. People's minds function by thinking that our greats and legends are for some reason godly or the standard that will never be met. If you are fast but say you will become better than Asafa Powell, Tyson Gay, and Usain Bolt everyone will think you are a dreamer and you'' never touch them because well...Thats Bolt! Who are you? However if you manage to deliver on this promise and perform this feat who are you now? The speedster, lightning, and more nicknames. The world will believe you're the best in the world and that you're untouchable. Michael Johnson I think it was believed noone would beat his records for a long time and out came Usain Bolt. Just do what you gotta do bro no matter how corny that **** sounds.
Ogecca MaMa 07-11-2009, 03:34 AM no, because they know im not an athlete and when see me jog they will think im a wannabe. Coz people in my neighborhood most are fukin *******, and specially if they find out im into boxing they will go and put me down like "dis kid not gonna make it lololol"
Why would you care of *******'s opinion ? honestly 3 pages of responses.. man quit crying and go ****ing train!!

we have treadmill in gym but i don't like the feel of running on it. maybe i will just jog inside our garage lol i just can't bring myself to go outside and jog, maybe next week if the rains would stop imma start jog inside the house coz sometimes its become flooded when it rain hard and slippery coz its covered in marble.

if i was living with people like here in this forum i would not mind training out in the open all day, but in here is different they will think im just having too much ambitious intent and will think im crazy for getting into boxing because they will say that im not strong im thin and sickly looking guy im not have physical strength for it.
so im just train inside for now i will go out maybe when im already proven myself maybe get to 20+ wins against better opponent with few lose so they wont say anything.
