Hey All

I thought this would be interesting. If you could bring any fighter from ANY era into 2009 who would it be an why?

I would love to see Benny Leonard and Joe Gans fighting today. Both incredible fighters and well ahead of their time. With todays rules and day before weigh ins they'd both likely win titles at 126, 130 and 135 with 140 also being a possibility.

A prime Holyfield. Not cause he was my favorite but because I would like to see him against the Klitschkos.

Outside of that it would be an early fighter such as Ketchel or Greb just to get an idea of how good that era was.

Lightweight to Welterweight Sugar Ray Robinson

it would be nice to have Ali to bring some life back to the heavy weight division but i think lightweight and welterweight have the most life in them currently id rather see some fights in those divisions especially against the likes of SRR

id like a young, focused and mentally stable mike tyson to bring some excitement to the HW division. or possibly tommy hearns. this comparing him to williams bs is starting to piss me of. it would be sweet to have tommy knock his jaw into fifth row and make these morons understand how retarded they really are.

I'm seconding the suggestion for Roberto Duran.

It would have to be Rocky Marciano.. The stigma of 49 & 0 captivates my imagination.. I've always had the belief that he would have been too small to compete in the modern era, & I'd love to know whether I'd be right or wrong.. I think he'd take the likes of Ruiz, Rahman, Maskaev etc but I'm not so sure about the Klits, Tua, a prime holy or a prime Lewis though..

There's quite a few I would love to see. Basically the 4 man round robin of Hagler, Leonard, Duran, and Hearns. That would spice up junior middleweight and middleweight a lot, which is really lacking right now. Maybe have the lightweight through welterweight Duran, because junior middleweight and middleweight was definitely not his best.

I second that also (Duran) I would also put Marvin Hagler in. Those two would show the modern era what "tough" was.

1. SRR : for complete domination and destruction
2. Ali : for making circles around those slower than ever HW
3. Willie Pep : for the defensive genius that he was

Roberto Duran. :D

Yeah, me too. Seriously. He would be perfect today. He would **** on all the *****es around 118 to 160 and take every single one of them on. He could make wars with Pac, Mayweather, Marquez, kill Cotto, etcetera etcetera and basically murder everyone from 160 down!

Forget the HW's. I've given up on them altogether. I'm happy for some madman to come in roaring around fighting everyone, breaking them down and knocking them out!

I want excitement damn it! I want someone that's angry and wants to fight anyone and everyone.

The list is endless really! :hahahaha9: Not that the lower weight classes today couldn't hold their own it's just that that the heavier weight classes are rather down right now (especially the Heavyweights) and could use an Ali or a Hagler to put some life into them.

marquez is quite overmatched against him doncha think? even manny pacquiao (any version of him) needs his A game just to be competitive against a well prepared and motivated duran...

I would love to see how some of the old heavyweights who never became champ would do today. Would be fun to se Eddie Machen and Jerry Quarry.
