I would of liked to have batted out the morning session at least on day 2, i see us getting around 350-360 total, the aussies will probably post around 400 so it's finely poised.

I think we edged it on Day 1. Looked like a good wicket, 450+.

If we can keep the Aussies to 350ish we should be able to win. But with Hussey, Clarke and Ponting that's unlikely. Add Hughes, Katich and North and one of their batsmen is going to bag serious runs against England's attack.

The problem for us was that we needed at least one guy to have a great innings, 120 runs+, if someone had pulled that off we would be ok.

I dont care anyway i still say australia 5-0 england

Lol is all I can say, we are gonna get pwned

Punter and Kat pwned us. Heaps of batting to come as well.

I think it might be wise to play for a draw at this point, I know its early but if we attack the aussies there is a good chance they will put up 600+ throw us in, finish us off for 200 and wrap this thing up before day 5. Against this kind of opposition if you go behind on the cards your basically ****ed.

make it a draw and try again in the next test rather than go behind

Dan...

Yeah, it is going to come down to whether you guys can draw it or not.

Take out Freddy and your attack is disgraceful.

I think we will probably win the game.

Anyone seen those aussie 'fanatics'? Its almost guaranteed these cunts head down the nearest gay bar at stumps.

England Cricket is a bit like Audley Harrison isn't it.

Im not watching anymore, Just let the aussies keep the damn urn and spare us any further humiliation

???

As long as Australia keep playing sensibile cricket we'll get well over 500.

Congrats on Pointing getting 150 and getting 11000 test runs.

Thank god someone who shares my feelings

I find it harder and harder to care about british sport, why are we so arrogant.

The mentality between us and the aussies is so far apart, The rest of the sporting world thinks we are cunts and to be frank we deserve it.

Aussie 5-0 England please

Haha, i actually can't believe it, is this most undeserved result in recent memory? Though to be fair, it was partly down to ponting crap tactics!

Very exciting for the last hour. Holy shit, my heart was going at it some.

It wasn't that England had a terrible first innings, they had a reasonible run of points. It was more that they couldn't dispose of anything when bowling.

Well done to Monty for holding out, I can't believe the cunt managed it.

With any luck England will be able to get a better grasp of the situation and get a few more runs outta KP. He's been abysmal so far.

Anyone else think Ponting looks like he needs a good f.ucking bath?!

You lucky pricks!

Well done to the Poms but, great job to hang on.

We are still winning this series though, no doubt. There is a clear class differential between the two batting line ups that I don't think your lot are going to be able to overcome.

They batted shit this week, that is true, but we do have a lot of talent in our batting order. I was most dissapointed in Cook and Bopara. If they can both find form then they could get big scores in the rest of the series.

Pietersen is obviously a cunt for that shot in the first innings but hopefully he will sort it out for the remaining tests.

Strauss is capable of getting runs but needs to buck his ideas up, and I think if nothing else, this test proved that our tail enders have got staying power. The aussies struggled in both innings to get our lower order out.

I'm remaining positive about our chances and predict a 2-1 win for the poms!:banana:

Stop making up quotes. No one that knows anything about the game has said that. The Aussies aren't as strong as they were a few years ago and there is a long way to go in the series yet.

A game that last for 7 weeks! Lol, wtf. I heard they have a dead Australian cricketers ashes in that ern. Is that true or is it just the wickets that were burned after England were humiliated by some amateur Australian cricket team? I've heard both versions and want to know your side of the story please.

Brilliant effort. The only note of caution is that we look a bit thin on the ground without freddie. We dont really have anybody else that aggressive.

That's why we need Harmison back in the team. He's on blazing form for Durham and he's proven at this level. Onions is a good bowler but I don't think that he's hostile enough for the Aussies.
Broad will be good in a few years but he looks a bit out of his depth at the minute. V. inconsistant with his line and length.
Swann and Anderson have got it together for this test which is pleasing, I think that they're both top quality bowlers.
