and it was brilliant. the best time i've ever had. seriously. i sat down maybe 3 times, for about two seconds. otherwise, i was pretty much just wilding the **** out. i had really good seats, and by the end of the night the stadium was full, and the energy was ridiculously high. personal highs included:
Royce Da 5'9 performing Hip Hop (even though there was barely anyone there for Slaughterhouse's set. Buddens did a little Pump It Up, which was jokes.)
KRS One's surprise appearance. he was not scheduled to be there are then he ended up hosting along with Supernatural. they kicked this CRAZY freestyle that was AT LEAST 5 minutes long. it was the craziest thing i've ever seen. i have actually never seen anyone freestyle like that. they just kept going like they could have gone on forever.
Nas' entire performance. just because i love Nasty Nas. and i love that he gives his audience exactly what they want. i strongly dislike when an artist comes out and does not perform classics that he knows people want to hear. if there is something that you as an artist personally want to perform that you know people won't really get live for, then fine, do it, but don't LEAVE OUT the other ****. Nas never does that. he gives you EXACTLY what you want. he performed it ain't hard to tell, the world is yours, life's a *****, New York State of Mind pts 1 & 2, One Mic, and Got Yourself A Gun, which got everyone really really live. he performed with Damien Marley, which was pretty crazy. their new album is going to be some obvious fire.
Hi Tek and Kweli and Blackstarr...enough said.
and my favorite performance was .... (this isn't going to surprise anyone...)
BIG BOI!!!
he performed pretty much all Outkast material, including Elevators, Southernplayalisticcadillacmuzik, Ms.Jackson, Rosa Parks, to name a few. and then he finished with Kryptonite which pretty much blew the roof off. i was a bit out of control for that one. STRAIGHT UP PIMP IF YOU WANT ME YOU CAN FIND ME IN THE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
so all in all it was an amazing show. a lot of artists didn't show up, which was disappointing (Busta Rhymes, The Roots, GZA...but i've seen the last two already twice so that wasn't too upsetting, but Busta i was really looking forward to seeing), and i arrived just after Slum Village performed, which was pretty devistating because i really tried to be on time for them because i love their music and i really wanted to experience those Dilla beats live and direct, but it was seriously so sick regardless. so basically, you should all go. :)
