Simple question, but you can only pick ONE, and give reasons please.

Fedor vs. Cro Cop

Number 1 vs. Number 2
Fedor outstrikes Cro Cop

Cro-cop rocked Fedor though. But Fedor best quality is being 1 lucky MFer.

I really can't decide which one. The one that stands out the most to me though is... Takanori Gomi vs Hayato Sakurai.

Kimo Leopoldo vs Dan Severn:
Back and forth action, great boxing, great kicks by Kimo, fantastic ground game by Severn. I have it as a number one in my book.

I had to think about this one a bit.

I'm not sure that I have a favorite fight per say, however my favorite fight that I watched live (televised) was Couture-Liddell 1. I watched it with a bunch of my old training buddies and almost everyone was picking Chuck to win, though I think deep down we were all pulling for Courture. Couture's domination was incredible to watch in that backdrop.

Now that I think about it, Couture-Sylvia would actually be #2. At the time Sylvia seemed like a beast and I thought Randy was a major underdog going in. Then he ran straight out and dropped Sylvia with a right hand, and proceeded to dominate all 5 rounds of the fight.

I guess Courture is sort of the Cinderella Man of MMA. When his back's against the wall is when he shines.

GSP vs Hughes III. even though I prefer striking, that fight was my favorite cuz I remember being in total awe of how GSP took down Hughes and just man handled him into submission, and Hughes is considered the greatest ground fighter ever and GSP was basically a pure striker at the beginning of his career.

If someone didn't know anything of either fighter before watching that fight, they'd think that Hughes has zero ground skills and GSP is the most dominant ground fighter in the world. That fight definitley boosted GSP's legacy big time.

Hughes is far from the greatest ground fighter ever.

He was something of a pioneer as a powerful wrestler who is adept in submissions, but that's about it.

I get your point though, just had to pick a bone. GSP's transition to becoming such a dominant wrestler has been extremely impressive. That he performed the task against a man who basically wrote the book on domination through wrestling in the lower weight divisions is damn impressive.

Hughes is FAR FROM the greatest ground fighter ever??? I hope for your sake that you don't really think that. Maybe he isn't the best, but an argument can be made.

I really don't think so, no.

Hughes is a very good wrestler who developed a solid submissions game. That's about as far as I'll go.

Fedor/Cro Cop was the most hyped match.

Shogun/Lil Nog is an absolute war that every MMA fan needs to see.

I think one sided fights like most of GSP's one can't be quoted as great fights. If i had to talk about great fights in MMA, i would say:

1) Nogueira vs Herring
2) Nogueira vs Cro Cop
3) Nogueira vs Sapp
4) Shogun vs Lil Nogueira
5) Wanderlei vs Rampage II
6) Wanderlei vs Liddell
7) Wanderlei vs Yoshida II
8) BJ Penn vs Hughes II
9) Melendez vs Kawajiri
10) Pulver vs Gomi

Frye vs. Takayama.

beat me too it.

but the winner for me has to be Hughes-Trigg 2. the fact that hughes was on queer street and was locked in a deep rear naked choke and still managed t get a submission win was unbelievable.

this thread is about "favorite" fights, not great fights or best fights.

I define favorite fight as a fight that I was most into and emotionally happy about. And "GSP-Hughes III" was it for me. Most likely because GSP is my favorite fighter. so you can call it bias or whatever, but that fight sticks out the most for me.

Gomi and Sakurai both KO'd Jens pretty badly. I think they're the ones who really ****ed up his career.
