View Full Version : [HOLY S**T!] Urijah Faber to the UFC?
Oscar DeLaHoya 07-03-2009, 01:54 PM Apparently he is not happy with the pay scale in the WEC and has talked with Dana White and said he can pull some strings.

American_Ninja 07-03-2009, 11:02 PM I cant see Faber moving until he beats Brown. He would have to go up to Lightweight to fight in ufc. He just seems to small for that.
GroundSt.Pound 07-04-2009, 12:02 AM That doesn't mean he's moving to the UFC. He still has one fight left on his WEC contract.
Plus Urijah Faber enjoys being a big fish in a small pond at FW. He could easily move up to 155 and fight in the UFC. But the competition is too steep.
Oscar DeLaHoya 07-04-2009, 01:20 PM He is an exciting fighter, I for one would love to see him move to the UFC. The guy has heart and character and personality - fit for the UFC
Brian13 07-04-2009, 01:24 PM Faber really wants a rematch with Tyson Griffin but I think he should have a shot at LW in the WEC before moving to the UFC.
Oscar DeLaHoya 07-04-2009, 01:26 PM Mike Brown should move to the UFC as well, that WEC seems like a rip off

He was in the UFC fought once or twice [one of his fights was at one of the UFC 60's] but struggled.

Zuffa owns both the UFC & WEC
the only crossover weight division is LW
the WEC's goal is to be a place for the lower weights (145, 135, & soon the 125lb'ers) to have their own place to shine
Oscar DeLaHoya 07-04-2009, 02:16 PM whats their payscale? Faber is complain...Lots of ppl come out for live fights....
BTW I saw that fight inyour sig that night Faber-Brown, deadly knee
MOREBASS 07-04-2009, 04:07 PM He wants some of that PPV money. Can't blame him. He's the biggest star in the WEC and he's getting paid knickels for it.

WEC fighters do get paid less mainly because they don't do ppv's yet, so its less revenue to pass out
i think eventually they will start doing ppv's
its hard to trust the fighter pay thats released to the public, the fighters have stated numerous times they get undisclosed bonuses in addition to whats reported.......that being said the top dogs in the WEC, mainly Faber & Torres, are definitely underpaid
goblin 07-04-2009, 08:12 PM aside from marketing i dont see a point for faber in the ufc..
the guy has f*cken shown difficulty against nobodies quite honestly..he wont get that far ahead i dont think..i like the guy but i dont have confidence in him..he gets tired quickley and even in his last fight i was just waiting for the other guy to get a good clean hit..
Faber seems a little chinny to me..and i think the ufc would eat that kid up alive.
Move BRICKS™ 07-04-2009, 08:54 PM You can't really talk down on Mike Brown for his UFC loss. He was facing Genki Sudo, who is known for making top-tier competition look like fools.
GOD HATES ME 07-06-2009, 01:10 AM Doesn't the UFC own WEC?
JoeKickAss 07-06-2009, 11:39 AM Doesn't the UFC own WEC?
Zuffa owns the UFC and WEC
fallenloki 07-06-2009, 07:56 PM Zuffa does in fact own both the WEC and UFC. The pay scale in the UFC is pretty bad and the pay in the WEC is ****ing garbage. I'm pretty sure most of the guys in the WEC need to maintain full time jobs to keep afloat.
I mean, seriously... What the ****... Urijah Faber and Mike Thomas Brown made about $50K combined, including bonuses!! Those numbers are just sad... I'm sure the WEC is making them a whole lot of money with minimal expenses. I think their entire payroll for an average event is like $200K.
The UFC isn't much better either. One of their last events had a total pay out of about $1.2M, but Chuck Liddell ($500K), Rashad Evans ($120), and Rich Franklin ($100K) made up $720K of it. There were also three or four guys who made under 10K.
Their champions Georges St. Pierre and Lyoto Machida made 200K and 60K, respectively, as their base salary for their last fights.
The MMA pay mold needs to be broken. Dude, I make more than some of these fighters and I'm not even done with school yet.
phallus 07-06-2009, 08:08 PM faber can get on PPVs in the UFC but he's too small for 155, he'd take some beatings from real lightweights
