Maybe I'm in denial, but the death of Arguello sounds very suspicious to me. Was he a political threat to the leaders of Nicaragua? If anyone has details of his dealings as mayor of Managua, please enlighten me.

Smelt a rat, when I heard it was through the heart..
Didn't think people topped emselves like that..
I live in the midst of corruption, & if someone needs to go... They go..
This isn't as 'cut & dry' as say Berbick, but it echo's similarities to say, Liston or Freddie Mills.. Something aint right.. I believe in years to come, this will still be regarded as a mystery...

My sentiments exactly. People usually kill themselves by a shot to the dome, not to the chest. You are right; it will be years before the truth of what really happens comes out

I know there was no love lost between him and the Sandanistas and with Ortega running the show down there again I guess anything's possible.....

That's a ridiculous excuse for the people who are too soft to get hit, to lose and get back up. I'm ****ting on them coz i know people like that who never took half of the **** i took and who give up like losers. I can't respect that.

And if you had Cancer would you be very happy over someone taking the piss out of you for it? Well guess what? Mental illnesses are every bit a disease as physical illnesses are. I don't approve of people making tasteless remarks about people with physical diseases and I hold the same standard for mental diseases. Let me guess: You were one of those losers who would make fun of the Special Needs kids back in High School weren't you?

Very judgemental comment my friend.
How about if someone was looking at a slow painful terminal illness, would it be cowardly to decide to save your family from the mental suffering of watching a loved one die slowly and painfully?

The fact that such a brave fighter and man might have commited suicide kind of means it isn't as cut and dried as you say it is. He was a winner and not a quitter but may have taken this way out.

I can understand suicide if you have a disease or something like that for the reasons you talked about but if it"s for other ****s like money problem or depression i think it's a coward way to avoid problems.

Not to patronise you but may I ask how old you are please?
It's just I had a lot of opinions as forthright as yours when younger but age does soften your opinions.

I envy you I'm an old fart of 70.
Humour me if I have a little bet with you that I wont be around to collect, bet you don't have the same opinion at 50?
I'm lucky that I have never suffered from depression or the like but I would not judge someone who does, until you walk in someone elses shoes you don't know.
Read a few of your posts, you are a good poster. Don't post things like that that might upset people that have been affected by stuff like that it isn't nice.
Watch Arguello's old fights and enjoy him as a great champion watch his interviews and see what a classy guy he was.
As for how he died, just very very sad.

p.s. I was far more judgemental than you at 20, age weathers and batters you down a bit.

What if you are perfectly sound minded individual that lived in the 3rd world, what if you found out that your family was viciously slaughtered by anarchistic gorillas, and your so heart broken over the fact that your young children and your beloved wife are unrecognizable and you commit suicide so you could join your family again. Doesn't that deserve sympathy?

Nope.. it would be sad to what happened to the family.. but I would feel no sympathy for the guy commiting suicide.. you can still rebuild your life and continue it just depends are you strong enough to do it? no matter what happens and what you might think it is not the end of the world.

But some people will always quit when theres nothing left to fight for and some people keep on fighting and never say die to make something out of nothing..

I'm only 19 but most of the people I know who have commit suicide are young people who think there life's are so bad because mummy and daddy doesn't love them or there boyfriend and girlfriend broke up with them.. I'v had 3 friends kill them self over stupid **** like this and I will not sympathise toward them because they chose the selfish and easy way out.. not only do you ruin your own life you ruin the peoples lifes around you who love you...

I will never feel any sympathy towards anyone who commits suicide mainly because of my dad dieing from cancer a few weeks ago.. he was just 45, he leaves behind 3 teenage kids and a wife.. he would of given anything to even have a few more weeks to spend with hes family.. so when theres people treating life like it's nothing and thinking how hard they have it and killing themselfs over it, just pisses me off..

6 months ago my dad was going to work everyday could walk around and do everything a normal person could.. but then he started to lose hes vision.. then it was hes ability to walk.. hes speech became slurred and he was even having a hard time feeding himself.. making a decision that we wanted our dad to spend the rest of hes life at home rather then at a hospital.. me my younger brother and my mother would have to care for my dad like a nurse would, bathing him, feeding him and helping him to the toilet..

My dad always did things hes own way and was the guy that would never ask for help he had to much pride.. the fact he had no choice in the matter because he could not do hes daily habits by himself anymore i could tell was real hard for him.. I would watch him at times for about 5 minutes trying to feed himself where he would continously drop the food not being able to get into hes mouth.. so i would have to stop him and let him let me feed him.. Looking into hes eyes it was like he was losing hes dignity, he was always the one who looked after everyone and now it was us who had to look after him.

He never quit though fought until the very end, and was always trying to prove the doctors wrong...

You oooze intelligence for a young guy, & I appreciate/respect your views..
I'm 45, & outta principle, won't speculate until the real truth comes out..
All we actually KNOW is that Arguelo was a special fighter..I'd rather leave it at that for now... Sometimes, more often than not, the silent tongue is the wisest..
My mother told me this, when I was young.. The voice of experience has no reason to disbelieve her.. Regards MM

I don't condone suicide, but until you've walked in that persons shoes you can't have a clue what they are going through. You have the right to your opinion, but I wouldn't be so quick to judge.

I hope not but at my age your memory is the 1st thing to go :)
All ages are good dpends what you make of them. Phrase I heard in recent years is my new mantra, don't sweat the small stuff. Wish I had heeded that at your age.
