Joanns has some good fabric; they got everything really. I go there to get bead crafts, but I've browsed through their fabric line and it's pretty nice. ...although there are better fabric specialty shops in LA; nonetheless it depends on how much you're willing to spend per yard.

Micheal Levine's is awesome! They carried a stretch satin which I used for my daughter's prom dress last year. Gorgeous fabric and only $9/yard for something I can't find anywhere else. Her prom dress was just over $140 when finished off with swavorkian crystals. That was the most expensive part!
