View Full Version : What d you make of this
MMAguy 01-19-2005, 06:52 PM This is a comment I got of a bodybuilder.
in fact i think boxing is better than mma cause in boxing your on your feet and dont worry about loosing a fight cause someone bent your wriste the wrong way, know that is a ****ty way to loose a fight, but in boxing each man has an oppurtinity to win, instead of one guy being a submission fighter and the other a kick boxer, most likly the submission fighter would win, boxing you have two fighters toe to toe going at it on there feet, i am not hateing on mma or nothing i respect all fighters, but i think mma kinda of sucks when a minute into the fight some puts you in a arm bar and you loose, so that person did all that training for nothing,
I love boxing but i prefer mma by miles.
Curly Howard 01-19-2005, 08:40 PM Well that's his opinion. I think boxers do well against submission guys. I train in both but prefere stand up fighting to grappling.
As far as being a fan, I used to be a huge boxing fan but converted to MMA.
The part about " i think mma kinda of sucks when a minute into the fight some puts you in a arm bar and you loose, so that person did all that training for nothing"
well, first he didn't do enough training or he just fought someone better than he was or he just got caught. It happens in boxing too. Guy gets hit with a punch early in the first round and gets KOed.
Purity 01-19-2005, 09:48 PM quick reflexes, good timing, strategic thinking, conditioning, and a ****in TON of training are all aspects that are needed in both boxing and mma. so it doesn't really matter if yer on or off yer feet. a fight's a fight.
Mr. Beelzebub 01-20-2005, 10:48 AM MMA requires an educated audience... You have to know what is going on on the ground in order to appreciate it. Boxing doesn't require much knowledge in order to understand it. You don't need to know what an uppercut, hook, or south paw stance is to enjoy two guys going at it and beating the crap out of each other.
For example, people who don't know **** tend to get bored with technical boxers like Winky Wright for example, and enjoy brawlers like Arturo Gatti or JJ Chavez more.
It is in the level of Combat Sports knowledge, IMO.
