A 40-mile stretch of California's main north-south highway remained closed early Tuesday after a new storm dumped snow in the mountains, battered roadways and beaches, spattered hail in the Los Angeles area and spawned a waterspout in the Pacific Ocean. Pools of rain trapped cars at Southern California intersections, while messy conditions snarled traffic in the mountains north of Los Angeles as holiday travelers began returning Monday. The storms were sparked by an extensive low pressure system that edged down from the Gulf of Alaska and remained parked off the Pacific Northwest coast. The latest front was expected to linger through Tuesday in Southern California before another system moves over the state later this week. Purity 01-04-2005, 01:00 PM i like rain. AgonYx0 01-04-2005, 01:05 PM it was just hail Fallout 01-04-2005, 02:06 PM LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- California's wild weather is promising to keep residents and visitors in suspense, with forecasters expecting another round of torrential rain and heavy snow across the state. Apparently parts of San Diego Cty also got hit with hail and snow also, but not as bad as this. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-010405weather_lat,0,4297768.story?coll=la-home-headlines AgonYx0 01-04-2005, 04:04 PM i hate the rain nance 01-04-2005, 04:05 PM I love rain, but not day after day after day. I need some sunshine.... AgonYx0 01-04-2005, 04:21 PM im here. lol Squezze 01-04-2005, 04:21 PM I wonder if snow tires exist in California. AgonYx0 01-04-2005, 04:22 PM no Squezze 01-04-2005, 04:25 PM Snow tires are the ****. My little Cavalier looks like a tank with them on. No way am I getting stuck anywhere. I wanted to get metal studs put on there, but it's against town regulations here. Something about studs ripping up the roads. **** that, I wanna rip through everything in front of me. Snow, road, kittie cats, everything must be destroyed. nance 01-04-2005, 04:32 PM We just put chains on. We dont' get enough snow for snow tires. Shaolin Bushido 01-04-2005, 05:02 PM Squezze just might be insane. Funny. But insane. The Mouse 01-04-2005, 05:23 PM Alright, maybe in Northern Cali it's snowing, but they’re pretty much considered Oregon anyways so it’s not a real big shocker that it’s snowing up there in hick-town. I’m in downtown Los Angeles, and all we’ve seen is heavy rain. No hail, no snow; but we did have a tornado warning here a few days ago and actually had three level 0-1 tornados actually touch down here! Crazy. But yea, it’s raining, big deal. It snows in the mountains and high altitudes; this too, no big shocker. Downtown Los Angeles remains snow-free. Hick-town and mountain dwellers, get your snow chains... Los Angeles peeps, grab a beer and an umbrella and kick it. AgonYx0 01-04-2005, 05:45 PM so there! Fallout 01-04-2005, 06:44 PM I just want to know how much snow there is anyway. Espically since it closed down a major strech of highway. It couldn't of been that bad. Bzob 01-05-2005, 08:50 AM I wonder if snow tires exist in California.
