View Full Version : Mosley will win a decision
INFAMOUZ 11-17-2004, 06:17 PM On HBO Saturday Nov. 20th, Winky Wright vs. Shane Mosley II
This should be an entertaining fight with a lot at stake for both guys. Smart money bets Winky does a repeat of the first fight, Shane has only won 1 out of his last 3 fights, but I pick Mosley to win part II for a couple of reasons:
# 1. Shane is much better fighter than what he showed us last time, it was more a case of Mosley giving the fight away as opposed to anything Winky did to win it.
# 2. Mosley has the skills needed to beat Wright if he uses them this time, as I believe he will.

on a skill level Winky has a better defense and offense and is a much bigger man than mosley, he will once again over power mosley

I am a hige Mosley fan, and I'd like nothing more than to see him come out and take command early. He will need to get his punches off first with his quick handspeed. Mosley needs to try and cut off the ring somwhat, so he doesn't let Wright jab away at a distance.
If he can lookk sharp early, this will keep his spirts and confidence up. Mosley fights much better when he thinks he is in control.
Go "Sugar" Shane.
I know everyone thinks Wright has his number, and they may be right.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Mosley MD.
julDilla 11-17-2004, 06:41 PM yu saying your a big mosley fan makes sense now, but like bigdlb said hes just the bigger man in this fight with better skill

Winky will stuff that jab down Shanes throat like last time, except this time I pick Wright to stop Shane late.
I just don't see Shane beating Winky.
mic573 11-17-2004, 07:26 PM Winky doesn't have Shane's number he is just better than Shane. Mosley left his handspeed and movement at welterweight. I say Wright wins another decision or late stoppage. His straight shots will land right down the middle of Mosley's wide punches all night again. His defense will do the rest.

restless_438 11-17-2004, 08:11 PM really won't happen, as much as i respect SSM.
QueenCity 11-17-2004, 10:27 PM Mosley will come in to this fight more focused and ready, I think he can win this fight and revive his carrer.
Silverfox 11-17-2004, 10:33 PM I've 2,500 on Wright beating Mosley by KO or TKO. I hope I win coz its worth 10,000 if I do ! Odds are 4/1 :D
Yep! Winky is a vastly underated fighter. Shrewd..good moves..good defense. I believe that you can go and collect your money today!!
oldgringo 11-17-2004, 10:39 PM I think Winky/Shane is just like Hopkins/Trinidad. Hop and Winky are just too good, too strong, and too technically sound for Shane and Tito. Shane was always so effective because he was bigger and stronger than his opponent...that's not the case with Winky. He also never really faced a fighter who was so defensively sound.
Neuraxis 11-17-2004, 10:42 PM Not gonna happen.
julDilla 11-17-2004, 10:44 PM Not gonna happen.its that simple, no need for explaination, its not gonna happen
WINKY via U.D
There's obviously alot ridin' in this rematch for both guys. I see alot of posts predicting that it's gonna be just like last time. I like Mosley's chances this weekend, basing it mostly on the 'intangibles' . I didn't think the first fight was such a bad outing for Mosley. Shane did worse on the rematch with Oscar De La Hoya(imo). Mosley will have to be the ultimate pressure fighter in this one. On the post fight interview HBO had with Wright. WInky kept describing Mosley's punching power as Shane " had a cute little punch" I think it was a lot cuter than he wanted to admit, just basing it on Winky's face which was much puffier than Shane's . So if I were Mosley, I'd take a page from that kid from Houston named Juan Diaz, gotta chop that body down and the rest will follow, if and when Shane softens up Wright , then you've taken out Winky's biggest advantage and that is his boxing ability,Winky's infighting ability isn't that impressive. As far as Winky, I don't think there's much he has to change. Wright's biggest advantage is his size and although I don't think Shane showed any major difficulties in fighting a southpaw, I still think that it's one of Wright's biggest weapons against Shane, cause I saw Shane in some spots were he was just blocking with the wrong arms from several of Wrights punches and if Shane miscues enough on his defense then it could be Forrest all over again, but Winky has to step it up on his power punching even more so than last time. I really like both fighters they seem to be class acts, I'd hate for one to lose, but someone has to go..... If Mosley wins I'd like for him to fight Tito at 160, maybe a rubbermatch w/ Wright(only if the rematch is worth a 3rd fight), or Kostya at 147lbs(probably will never happen, I don't think Shane would wanna go on the Atkins diet, just THG for the Sugar man). If Wright wins, I'd like to see him fight De La Hoya at 154 or 160(probably will never happen ' cause De la hoya doesn't seem to have the aptitude or balls to fight a good southpaw, Camacho Sr. doesn't count) or a rematch with Trinidad at 160lbs.
Hurlex 11-18-2004, 12:12 AM i think mosley can do it if he's smart..also sometimes the best way to beat a good boxer is not to box him but just rush him...i hope mosley wins cuz winky win or lose will still have fights ahead..but if mosley loses i dont know where he will go from there
FistoftheDallasStar 11-18-2004, 12:21 AM Mosley's best fights are behind him. He wasn't able to figure out Forrest the second time and he won't be able to figure out Wright this time. Winky will win by UD.
Silencer 11-18-2004, 02:55 AM Mosley will win a decision if the judges are the ones who scored the Mosley-DLH II.
Don't wanna take anything from Shane but think that this fight won't different than the first one.
Interesting fight though.
Deejay 11-18-2004, 07:53 PM My heart says shane but my head says winky.
Xecutioner 11-18-2004, 09:22 PM mosley needs to let those damn hands go period. hes not knocking down anyone at 154 with a single punch so why the fucc does he keep loading up and throwing one punch at a time??
`STEELHEAD 11-20-2004, 03:57 AM boxrec has it that mosleys 5'9" with a 74inch reach, wrights
5'9 1/2" with a 72inch reach. goosen only has to change very few things in mosley to deal effectivley with the known quantity of wright. wow if the odds are 4 to 1 the underdog looks good.
mosley by TKO in the tenth...or later rounds.
