The Zuffa Myth.

It wasn't Zuffa who cleaned up MMA. It was the Quebec Mohawks and Larry Hazard.

The best fairy tale story is when Randy Coulture came back against all odds
and beat Tim Sylvia. Then he cemented it by beating Gabriel Gonzaga.
If that's not a Cinderella story I dunno what is.

Those 2 fights were the feel good stories of the year IMO.

Kimbo Slice. A poor man from the ghetto who fights on the streets and works security for a **** website rises to fame and fortune to lose it all to a man with pink hair. He picks himself up, pieces his life back together, wins the Ultimate Fighter reality show, and stomps Brock Lesnar for the UFC title.

He about Kazushi Sakuraba's accent. Basically came out of know where to win Ultimate Japan, while I believe fighting as a replacement for an injured Nobuhiko Takada. Goes on to carve out a legacy defeating many of the top grapplers in MMA through his own unorthodox style, which included a storied rivalry with MMA's most celebrated family, defeating 4 Gracies. These victories included a 90 minute marathon in which he made Royce quit on his stool, only to go the 15 minute distance in a very competitive effort against no other than Igor Vovchanchyn, actually registering a draw in the first stanza but being unable to continue for an extra round. He defeated both Renzo and Royler via tecnical-submission kimuras, one of which resulted in a scary looking, highlight real armbreakage.

Forrest Griffin must get a mention.
He wins the first Ultimate Fighter final in one of the best MMA fights ever seen. He looks like he is on his way down after losses to Tito and Jardine, beats the man most regarded as the worlds best 205 fighter in Shogun, then he beats Rampage for the gold.
