lately, I've been listening to instrumentals a lot more than rap

some of my favorites: DJ Premier, RZA, Havoc, Dilla, Muggs, Alchemist

i actually went to a beat battle on sunday. it was hype as ****.
they are so different from rap battles and somewhat refreshing because the arrogance is eliminated. rappers get ****y with their lyrics but when the beat speaks for itself, it doesn't insult.
