View Full Version : Why does Terrell get a title shot

OK you BJJ guys tell me why a guy who's 1-0 on the UFC get a title shot and Rich Franklin doesn't? He got a quick KO over Lindland, so what, he hasn't proved himself yet. This is why I hate the UFC. No structure or reasoning behind why they do anything. They say that Lindland was the #1 contender and Terrell beat him but then why not give a shot to Franklin or another MW who's been in there longer? 1 fight and a title shot, poor Edwards has been working his ass off and gets nothing.

I agree, Terrell is a bad ass but Franklin should've got the shot. If Terrell beats Tanner which I think he'll do, hopefully we can see a Franklin vs Terrell fight in the near future....

I disagree with everybody here. Franklin has had only ONE fight in the UFC at 185. And he beat Jorge Rivera, who at best barely cracks the top 10 in his division. Terrell knocked out Lindland, a top three guy in his division and the UFC's number one middleweight.

So, unlike most other times, I see the logic in the UFC's match-up here.

What weight did Franklin beat Dewees and Tanner at?

Those fights were at 205.

I totally agree. People forget that while Franklin is 3-0 in the UFC, two of those fights came in the 205 division, which should have no affect on his standing in the 185 division.

ok.. he won a single fight against a a top guy. But it wasnt much of a match, almost seemed fluke-ish to me. flame away but i truly believe anyone can lose 10 times to one person but there's always that 11th time when they can just get a good shot in. i think in a rematch lindland wins, personally.

Actually, I don't think he beats tanner, and i hope he doesn't so it quiets down the hype. just my 2 copper coins, flame at will lol

That's what I'm trying to say. If it was Tito or another UFC golden boy there would have been a rematch right away. Look at how many times Baroni got in line for a shot. Now this Terrell kid wins one fight and he's the next Busta?

To be the man you've got to beat the man, and like it or not Lindland was the man at 185 when Busta left.

Instead of complaining we should be damn happy that they are having a title match at 185.
