There might be some truth to this since I would assume his family would want him as healthy as he could go. While he did walk through his last two oppoenents who are much more bigger than him, it would be a different thing with Cotto who is a very live opponent. I this would go the distance and favors him, I think he should hang up his gloves. If he walk through Cotto I think he has one more.

Another angle would be he just might be semi-retired and if Mayweather comes back successfully, Im pretty sure he'll call him out on what perhaps would be the biggest payday for both fighters.

I did not think about that part of it, if he has a battle with cotto he can choose to retire.. but boxers like football players crave that adrenalline and the training its in their blood. but for his family sake yea i think it would be a great way to end it...
