The two men who KOd Roy Jones Jr. are going for the Light Heavyweight Title of the World.
I personally think that Antonio Tarver is the better boxer and maybe even the harder puncher. And even though Glen Johnson's KO of Roy Jones was one of the worse knock outs in recent history, Jones's early comeback to the ring after getting KOd by Tarver had a lot to do with it.
Johnson's style is basically brawling and if he doesn't impose his will early he is gonna get dominated by Tarver better ring movement and skills.
I hate Tarver, but I don't see him losing this one.
mmafanman 12-16-2004, 12:31 PM Tarver is the more skilled fighter. I see a TKO stoppage, probably in the mid to late rounds.
Having said that, I still think Tarver is an unmarketable, boring, gooby-looking loudmouth who can't sell out a PPV by himself unless somebody named Roy Jones is on the bill.

lol....precisely my thoughts.
Shaolin Bushido 12-16-2004, 07:26 PM Tarver is also a "former" crackhead if there's such a thing and I saw a post somewhere tha someome said they saw him at a casino looking geeked out around the time Shane beat DLH the last time, I believe. It was one of those fights; anyway, he's likely to underestimate Johnson as he's lost about half of his last 10 or 15 fights and has been beaten by B Hop and others obviously at the lighter weights where he's fought most of his career.
Tarver's been living the "high life" lately and even overlooking Johnson should get the W. He's a bigger guy and a southpaw. He does possess skills but not the heart of Johnson.
I think the ref stops it mercifully around the 8th in a fight that is much closer than Tarver would like.
mmafanman 12-21-2004, 01:29 PM Well, Johnson beat Tarver by split decision. Tarver looked out of shape and was breathing through his mouth by the middle rounds. Plus, Johnson takes a real good shot and was able to survive some of Tarver's bombs.
Shaolin Bushido 12-21-2004, 04:46 PM Yeah, one of those times I was glad I was wrong. He's a stand up guy and deserves some breaks. And he definitely comes to fight everytime!
Tarver's real problem showed up; he always thought he was "entitled" and as an amateur and most of his pro career has consistently lost to lesser skilled but hungrier guys. **** him.
Big ups to Glencoffe Johnson. And many more to come.
Well, not really as he probably doesn't have 3 or 4 more fights in him but ... you know what I mean.
mmafanman 12-22-2004, 01:29 PM With Johnson winning, it makes you think how my boy Julio Gonzales fits into the whole light heavyweight mix. Gonzales beat Johnson a while back, and he also beat Michalczewski. Michalczewski is fighting for a lesser belt and Johnson is the recognized number one fighter in the division.
realkaps 12-22-2004, 05:27 PM Johnson has had alot of decisions go wrong in the past, he's lost some he should've won, good too see one go his way. Took him some years, but atleast now he's getting some big paydays.....
Mr. Beelzebub 12-22-2004, 09:27 PM My question is, Why isn't JOe Calzaghe moving up in weight to take on the light heavys.
He was always claiming that Roy Jones was afraid of fighting him... Time for Joe to step up. The great white hope.
