Very interesting. We all these talk about these elections dividing the country... It seems that we have never really been "one" country.

people have different opinions. it's a given in any country that incorporates freedom.

It is true though that the differences that started even before the Civil War have never been erased. Alot of it actually stems from the post war era when the South needed to be rebuilt and the North treated them like a conquered nation rather than defeated rebels. They treated the south like a 3rd world country and held back the freedoms of it's citizens for many decades despite the North never having recognized the south as an independant nation. Take into account that it really has only been a limited number of generations since the war and stories are still passed down from parent to child as well as opinions. It's the same hear in Canada, the west has always been seperated from the east in political terms.

It's always interesting to not how provinces are so different in provincal and federal elections. In Federal elections BC, Alberta, Sask = Mostly conservative. In provincal elections BC = liberal, Alberta = Conservative, Sask = NDP. This proves that Sask is fuced up. They vote the most converative in one election and the most socialist in the other. I know it has alot to do with the seperation of provincal and federal politics in Canada which is not something that appears in the US but it is still interesting to note.

This is very true. The same people in Ontario that gave us two years of Mike Harris are the same people that gave the liberals 3 majority goverments.
