You get hit in the face more often in Boxing, so obviously the chance of this happening would be much more apparent in Boxing.

Oh, well I didn't even know who the guy was, but I figured a hit to the face is a hit to the face, lol. Well I'm also sure eye poking doesn't happen that often.

lol, i beg to differ, for the past 4-5 ufc events in a row ive seen an eye poke , all so bad, that it caused the ref to call a time out. eye poking is very dangerous, thats kinda why boxing invented such big gloves, thumbs and fingers hanging out is just risky when ur throwin hands to the face. mma is crazy lol
i love to watch it, but i would never do it

I don't see it happen that often and I watch MMA almost as much as boxing.
