View Full Version : Gomi vs. Pulver, who will win?
kcfman 12-02-2004, 11:39 PM I will pick Gomi. Why? I believe that Pulver had his heart set on a professional boxing career. I saw him on tv and got dropped but he stood up and at the end he won. While I am sure that Pride is going to pay him more than what he is getting offered from pro boxing, mma has evolved and I believe he was left behind.
Fallout 12-02-2004, 11:47 PM If anything, Pulver has improved his MMA game. He has better hands than Gomi, and he is a very good wrestler. He will keep it standing and land that heavy left hook as offen as he can.
If Gomi is gonna win, he is going to have to take Pulver down and submit him. He won't win by GnP, so his best chance is a submission. Gomi is gonna have to get a choke on Pulver to win.
Pulver by KO round 2
Curly Howard 12-03-2004, 12:03 AM A lot of people forget that Jens is an excellent wrestler and has a Couture style clinch game. Now with the solid punching, he's going to be hard to deal with. That body shot to the liver is sick.
On the other hand it's Gomi. He just doesn't loose. He's good at everything, stand up, subs and wrestling.
I really can't pick who's going to win except for the fans who finally get to see two top lightweights go at it.

Like I said Creed, MMA has evolved and Pulver was left behind. Sorry to say it but its the truth. You cant just jump off the train and expect to get back on it where you left off. Pulver lost in Hawaii to a unknown fighter or ref stoppage due to injury to Pulver. Then pulver won a fight (I dont know where) and went to boxing. That was a year or so ago. What part of the train stopped to say "get back on where you left"?. Sorry bro but Pulver will lose. He is a token in Japan. (IMO).
realkaps 12-03-2004, 12:56 AM I say Jens is gonna drop him. Gomi is good, real good, but we've seen Jens handle himself against good grapplers, and I believe his stand up is better thang Gomi's.....
Fallout 12-03-2004, 01:16 AM Also, didnt Jens beat a man that handed Gomi his ass not too long ago?

Wtf are you taling about, Willis? Pulver's last fight was in July; he is in a 4 fight winning streak since losing to Maxwell, with 3 KOs and a sub.
You obviously have forgotten that Pulver has been fighting for Shooto, son. As a matter of fact he still has another fight in his contract with them. Get your facts straight, young fellow.
With this said, Pulver by TKO.

Mr. Beelzebub 12-03-2004, 01:17 PM I never liked the old Pulver, but the new Pulver has a completely different style now... Pulver now feels a lot more confident in his stand up and he is always looking for a Ko now.
New Pulver = Old Vitor New Vitor < Old Pulver
