"Big", as in popular? Chups already brought up billiards: popular, and we do very well in it. Of course there's basketball: popular, but we no longer dominate regionally. There's Practical shooting sports: IPSC, IDPA in pistol format. (It's pretty addictive, especially when you get suckered into HPR matches. Admittedly, ammunition is a bit too expensive to fully enjoy select-fire rifles and subguns... so it's mostly pistols, and the Philippines does pretty well in the regional/international sport.) A couple of decades ago tenpin bowling had a fair bit of media exposure, but like a more recent badminton craze, it seems to have died down a bit. Guess one can blame gaming consoles and the internet (lol) for some of the decline in public interest towards traditional sports. h. |
