GeNeRaL 11-30-2004, 10:57 AM excellent...shaping up to be a great show, imo.
Leather 11-30-2004, 11:03 AM Yes, very good card and thumbs up for Saku and his balls...
Mr. Beelzebub 11-30-2004, 11:24 AM Silva might literally kill Sakuraba this time... I don't want to see Saku be the sacrificial lamb for NYE. Tamura or a Gracie would have been a better and more entertaining match up.
realkaps 11-30-2004, 11:39 AM Tamura didnt want to fight Sakuraba, DSE didnt want Sakuraba too fight Silva. Sakuraba wanted the fight, and he got it. The rest of the card looks pretty good....
Mr. Beelzebub 11-30-2004, 11:44 AM Mirko Cro-Cop vs. Kevin Randleman is 95% official... Bas says is gonna happen.
realkaps 11-30-2004, 11:54 AM I dont think Randleman's plan will work twice. He better hope he gets the takedown right away........
Curly Howard 11-30-2004, 12:19 PM Tamura didnt want to fight Sakuraba, DSE didnt want Sakuraba to fight Silva. Sakuraba wanted the fight, and he got it. The rest of the card looks pretty good....
While I love Sak and admire his carrer, this has to be the dumbest idea ever. Sure he could beat Silva with the old "it's MMA, anything can happen" but I don't think I can stand to watch him get KOed again.
This card is ridiculously good as usual. Pride Ownz!!!!!
Squezze 11-30-2004, 05:39 PM It'll be great to see Jens Pulver in action again. I'm still picking Gomi though.

Well technically Silva only KOed him once, but he did lay a beating on him the other 2 times. I would think a person would be a bit timid about fighting a guy who kicked his ass 3 times, but not Saku. Dude's got balls the size of grapefruits........
Squezze 11-30-2004, 07:02 PM Silva really didn't kick Sakuraba's ass in the 2nd one. Saku was definitly holding his own until the freak injury.
The Golden Bear 11-30-2004, 07:08 PM yeah that was a freak injury. But after last pride, it seems freak injurys are less freaky.
Purity 11-30-2004, 07:12 PM Well technically Silva only KOed him once, but he did lay a beating on him the other 2 times. I would think a person would be a bit timid about fighting a guy who kicked his ass 3 times, but not Saku. Dude's got balls the size of grapefruits........
he's the ultimate japanese hero and those fans would sell their souls to see him take out silva. pride knows this so they'll continue to sponser those two for eternity.
sak doesn't care about getting hurt. he just wants to give his fans a good show. in 30 years, he'll be rammin fighters in the ring with his wheelchair.
realkaps 11-30-2004, 07:47 PM Silva really didn't kick Sakuraba's ass in the 2nd one. Saku was definitly holding his own until the freak injury.
I agree, that fight was great until he hurt his shoulder......
Fallout 11-30-2004, 08:04 PM I agree, that fight was great until he hurt his shoulder......
Hurt his shoulder? Silva picked him up and slammed him onto it.
Curly Howard 11-30-2004, 08:33 PM IMO, Sakuraba will go down as one of the best MMA fighters ever. Not only for what he did against the Gracies, but he's fearless, entertaining and talented.
With all his accompishments, why risk it against Silva? I'm not saying he has no chance against Silva, but like Kaps said, it has to be in his head that the guy beat Sak 3 times already and the last one was a brutal KO. Plus Silva looks like he has 30 lbs on him.
Sakuraba is just too small to be fighting 205 lbs guys anymore. He should drop down to Pride's new welterweight class and become a champion there.
I've seen every one of Silva's fights from the bare knuckle days in Brazil to now. I don't want to see this one.
realkaps 11-30-2004, 10:15 PM Fedor emelianenko vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira - Fedor by decision again...
Hideiko Yoshida vs. Rulon Gardner - Yoshida should tap the wrestler.....
Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Wanderlei Silva - As much as it pains me, Silva by KO
Yuki Kondo vs. Dan Henderson - Hendo by GNP TKO or KO
Takanori Gomi vs. Jens Pulver - Great too have Jens back, I think he can pull it off.....

Yeah that's about it.
Gomi Pulver should be a war but I think Jen's stand up is pretty slick now with those body shots. On the ground it's a toss up between those two.
realkaps 11-30-2004, 10:43 PM I think Kondo vs Hendo will be a good fight, but I see Dan rocking Kondo then taking him down for the finish. I'm just happy that both of them are getting to fight someone their own size.....
Curly Howard 11-30-2004, 10:48 PM Yeah, I love Pride but I wish they would tighten up their weight classes
realkaps 11-30-2004, 10:48 PM Randleman vs CroCop should be on this card too, but Randleman decided he needs more money to have his head kicked in.......
Curly Howard 11-30-2004, 10:57 PM I don't blame him
Tha Playa 12-01-2004, 09:58 AM Silva really didn't kick Sakuraba's ass in the 2nd one. Saku was definitly holding his own until the freak injury.
I wouldn't say it was a freak injury. A freak injury is something thats just happens out of nowhere or by accident. When a man picks another up in MMA and slams him and injury results it's a win. Does that make Rampage's victories by slamming opponents freak wins too?
Mr. Beelzebub 12-01-2004, 10:22 AM Sakuraba's shot has slowed down a lot, especially because of the condition of his knees. HE never found his reach during the third fight, and he won't during this one. Silva is gonna hurt him again, and that man deserves better than that.

Well, it was a freak injury in respect that Silva didn't intend to dislocate Sakuraba's shoulder, he just wanted to keep from being choked out. And yeah, I would think that any of Rampage's wins by slams that resulted in the ref stopping the fight due to injury (Masaki Satake is the only one I can think of) would be labeled as freak injuries.

We'll just agree to disagree on that. I think he was purposely trying to inflict damage by using the slam, and damage resulted that stopped the fight.
