bulletin board system were like a stoneage internet. I used to dial in to a bunch of them. A lot more personal than the internet, but like .0000000000001th the size. There is only 3 I really miss. One because I helped run it, one because I had access to the "try before you buy" games section, and the other because it was probably the coolest place I ever found to post, and it was my first BBS.
Anyone here ever do the BBS thing before the internet?

I had a modem that you actually had to put the telephone handset onto it and it would dial in... holy crap that's goin back.
I had this Apple II Plus with a "green" screen monitor, but i was cool cause i had a color tv in the room as well and had a drawing program.."Koala Draw" with a little drawing tablet and pen and it came up color on the tv... i was the envy of the neighborhood! no one had color monitors back then! :D

Yeah I did
I did. Played LORD, a friend and I worked out a glitch for infinite XP and we would pwn everyone on the server within a matter of days if not weeks and kill all the players and take their ****. It ruled.

I used to go on the BBS's all the time when I was a Dungeons & Dragons freak. It was an interesting time, for sure. The earliest version of the Internet was really just a large BBS.

I also used to frequent BBS's back in the day with a friend. Played a few different games. I laugh when I look back. Text based games were never so fun.
