UFC President, Dana White has revealed that if former UFC heavyweight champion, Josh Barnett can defeat Fedor Emelianenko on August 1st at Affliction: Trilogy, he will look to bring him back to the octagon.

Speaking at the UFC 99 Q & A session for UFC Fight Club members, Dana said:

“If Josh Barnett beats Fedor, obviously I'd be interested in signing Josh Barnett. If he beat Fedor, obviously, he's one of the best in the world.”

Barnett captured the UFC heavyweight crown in 2002, defeating Randy Couture but he was swiftly stripped of the title after testing positive for steroids. He continued his career in Japan for the following four years.

I think Barnett or Fedor would walk straight through anyone in the UFC Heavyweight division at this time. I know Barnett has lost to Nog and Crocop, but they are not the same fighters that they were back then.

I was under the impression that Barnett wasn't interested in the UFC and left on bad terms....

Anyway the only person who had the best chance at beat Fedor has a glass jaw and just got knocked out by Brett ****ing Rogers.

I thought that as well, but when Couture won the HW title he did say that Dana should sign him to fight Randy since he didn't believe that Randy was the true champion since when he left he was the champion and knowne beat him for the belt. I don't know if that was hype, or it was a shot at the UFC, or it was a serious invitation. Either way I don't see him in the UFC anytime in the near future. In fact I wouldn't mind seeing him aainst Overeem or having another shot at Crocop.
