And why would you wanna get married in your early 20s anyways? I'm 24, been with my gf for almost 2 years, and I have no thoughts on marriage or kids until AT LEAST my 30s.

I got married at 20, almost done raising my kids and still young enough to enjoy life after they are gone. But you have to do what is right for you.
Married 19 years now.......

Ohh....I see. Sometimes we have some regrets, but the thing is to learn from them. Now is the time to move forward. Don't get caught in looking back too long, you'll get a kink in your neck. The only things I really truly regret are being unkind and nasty towards others, deserved or not.

The choice I made I wouldn't change for anything because I adore my kids. Even when a certain one is being rotten....lol.

I have a similar ethos. I don't like REALLY hurting anyone though I do push a few buttons. It's all in "bantering". I DO consider the past and future options just so that hopefully I will do and be better than I've been.

I am all too aware of my fallibility so I always secretly think to myself, "I could be wrong". I guess that's why that guy on the "insurgency" thread irked me so much. I've been in much more similar circumstances to what he commented on so judgementally and his ignorant remarks were just too worthy of ridicule for me to ignore it.

Anyways, maybe he'll make, "what I call teh mounties", meet lots of people and realize things are rarely as easy or easily categorized as "right", "wrong" or teh best.

Usually depends on your perspective.

Some things are black and white, but for the most part, everything is gray. There are almost ALWAYS underlying reasons for why people do what they do, right or wrong. Being fallible isn't a crime, it's normal. It's realizing that you are fallible is what gives you strength to move forward and learn. When we're young and innocent, we think everything is black and white. I learned at a young age that gray is the predominant color of the world. I try to respect the views of others and hope they would do the same for me.

You are right about the perspective issue. It boils down to someone's point of view and that's why we should all try and look at it from someone else's. Especially those who have BEEN there. It's not easy on the military people. I could never do what you guys have done and I and my family have a good idea what you go thru.

Marines have a soft spot in our hearts. We lost a brother(bil, uncle) who was a marine. We still miss him and he shouldn't have died, but he did. (long story) We also live by Camp Pendleton, so we usually meet new marines all the time......they like girls...lol. None of my daughters have dated any, but their friends have and have brought them over here.

Boy, I really got off track there, didn't I? Anyways, just remember that we're all human and we all don't see things the same way. Viewing it from another's perspective is always a good way to gain respect for them and their opinion. As long as they do the same. :-)
