The Black Album is one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time. some of jays best songs were on that album. I thought it was a classic from the first time i heard it. Jay-Z made me proud as a hip hop fan, when he performed in the UK at the Glastonbury concert. I'm telling you guys, Jay-Z is good for the culture of rap. There were people saying before the concert, that rap wasn't real music, and it didn't belong at a rock concert. Jay went up there and rocked the ****ing stage like only he can. Jay-Z has class. Now your probably thinking, what do you mean class? He raps about drugs, sex etc. True, but I'm not talking about that kind of class. I'm talking about the way he represents the culture. Jay-Z can go on a show with Barbara Walters and not make a fool out of himself. Even though the pictures hes painting in these songs are immoral, he always says this is art inspired by where he grew up. And makes rap look like legitimate form of art to those we hate it. Jay-Z's live performances are second to none. He always brings a live band with him to make the music sound better, he doesn't scream songs. Jay-Z is always defending the culture, and saying how it is art, and rappers are intelligent. Jay-Z has set a good standard for young rappers coming up. The sky is limit, rap can lead to all kind of avenues....
