Hi all, I've got my first fight 3 weeks today. I only found out on saturday.

My two priorities are 1. to increase fitness/stamina to last 3 hard rounds, and 2. to sharpen up my technique (improve defence, counter punching, increase speed in the ring).

I have done sprint drills every day since saturday, replicating the duration of a round with 1 min rest. These make me want to be sick. I have also been doing 8-10 rounds on the bags each day. I have sessions arranged with a coach to do pad work every other day and I plan to get some good sparring in.

But with only 3 weeks to prepare, what would you focus on?

Thanks, SuperH

so if he doesnt take my advice, he wont spar. its pretty obvious advice really, just trying to help someone. you dont make sense.

dont worry about it 3 weeks is plenty of time.. assuming you were already in decent shape .. that sounds good what your doing.. the sprinting is good.. i got my first 3 fights coming up .. one saturday another on June 27th and another on July 11th... just get some good quality sparring 2 or 3 times a week in .. and hit up the jump rope hard.. try to do doubles on the jump rope for like 1 minute straight then work your way up to 2 minutes the last week before the fight.... good luck

It will be 2mins 3 rounds if hes in uk. Only in championships it is 3 x 3. Or 4x2's sometimes.

5 fights means he has more experience and will know how he is feeling. And he i is not losing every fight it is hard to have a winning record in ams.

havent you lost more than you have won???

no.. im 3-2

but theres nothing wrong with having lost more than you have won, bad judging is rife in the amateurs, plus he could have fought experienced guys or given away weight in those losses...you just dont know
