View Full Version : i need a new diet...help please
White_Bread 06-09-2009, 04:15 PM Im an amatuer boxer, 20 right now, I'm 6'0 and 240 lbs
Back in 2005/06 I boxed amatuer as a super-welterweight, and my walk around weight was 160. I would run and do lots of push ups and for my diet I would consist of Mc'Donalds, Chinese Food, Burgers, Rice, LOTS OF CARBS and low sugar....
Now...in 2009...I'm 240 lbs (I was 265 at the start of 2009) and want to box back at my original weight. I find it difficult to box with heavy weights and the only thing different from 2006 is I eat a little bit less and work out less and drink more sugars but still box...
I think I may have a problem on my hands, help and advice please :footinmou

Kinetic Linking 06-09-2009, 11:08 PM wow you have quite an opportunity. Your original diet sounds close to perfect to me. All those foods are highly nutritious. The only change I would make is substituting a slightly higher quality burger as mcdonalds is pretty bad. I would say the consumption of sugar is an improvement - sugar is highly nutritious and works quite well in combination with other nourishing foods.
In other words, adopt a diet very similar to your original one while maintaining your current consumption of sugar.
Also, you may have to accept that you aren't going to fight at 160 again. Your goal, and every fighter's goal, should be to find a weight you can maintain while eating and sleeping right and maintaining a seriously vigorous training regimen.
Eating right for an athlete means serious calorie consumption. As a primary goal I would not suggest eating less or "healthier", except for substituting another type of burger for mcdonalds.
Assuming you're fat, though I don't know if this is the case, what you probably need is to get off your ass, not eat differently.
If you eat the diet I've suggested and train like a beast, you'll have the opportunity to become a beast. Most athletes never learn to eat as well as you have. They hear too much about "health" food and never get the nourishment they need to be real savages. Good luck, with your experience, age, and diet knowledge the only thing stopping you from being successful is a bad decision to avoid painful training!

danny stash 06-10-2009, 10:33 AM chicken, salmon, all fruits and vegetables. Some multi grain or oatmeal in the mornings. LOW SALT! Lots of water. One cheat DAY! Some cocunut oil mixed in oatmeal, you need an influx of fat to not store it. You store what you need. Dont get enough water, you store it, Dont get enough good fats, store em. Some olive oil. You know how you are just to lazy or a glutton. I hate these questions...
Kinetic Linking 06-10-2009, 02:28 PM that is not a nourishing diet, no wonder your head hurts when you blast a heavybag.

To lose weight it is brother. I do not eat like that 100% of the time but that is the basis of a healthy diet. fish, chicken, lean meats fruits and veges. My head hurts when I hit the heavy bag because I got hit in it hard. Now run along and read up on nutrition young man.

danny stash 06-10-2009, 03:43 PM I am open to anyone's suggestions but this is the diet that I got from foremost nutritional authority to the American olympic athletes. Please, I would like to respectfully hear your argument.

I think/hope he's being sarcastic. If not he has no idea how nutrition works because upgrading from mcdonalds to a better burger isn't the answer. Your pretty much on point with the answer you gave.
Kinetic Linking 06-11-2009, 12:06 AM I'm not being sarcastic and you already "respectfully" heard my argument. Figure it out or don't at your own peril.

That's just it! I want it back! I'm only 20 for ****s sake! lol I used to eat lots more than I do now, now that I stopped workin out for a while I gain alot of weight :O
I dont care what anyone says, eating LOTS of carbs and a low sugar diet will make you lose weight if you work out, you cant cut out carbs cuz your muscles NEED them
But I know I gained weight cuz I stopped workin out, I used to work out 10-15 minutes a night and was 160 lbs and am 250 lbs now since I dont work out and I eat less too :pat:
Kinetic Linking 06-15-2009, 08:32 PM you probably grew as well, just eat a reasonable diet and start training again.
