View Full Version : I'm about to re-listen to relapse today...
Truth 06-09-2009, 10:59 AM if gold mac, reedickyaluss, lefhook are all co-signing this. i must be missing something...
afterall, I was a eminem fan since middle school...so its weird that i don't like it.
Texasboy34 06-09-2009, 11:04 AM Relapse is kind of a grower album as it gets better the more you listen to it. I think it will grow on you if you are a fan of Em's early work. These tracks lyrically and flow wise should not disappoint:
Stay Wide Awake, Medicine Ball, Beautiful, Hello, Deja Vu, My Mom, Bagpipes From Baghdad and Underground (his 3rd verse is ****ing crazy on this song)
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:04 AM i don't know i just got done with 3 am......disturbing...lol
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:08 AM honestly, as far as how hes rapping its good, and the beats are good. but I just don't like the style of the content...for some reason I can't get over that.
i'm on insane right now
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:10 AM sm****ing head@ insane......
if anybody likes that song other than the skill of it and the beat...somethings wrong...lol
THE REED™ 06-09-2009, 11:11 AM its definitely an album that requires a 2nd 3rd 4th listen...
that stepdad song... you just need to take it as a humorous song, and appreciate ther ridiculous lyrics and wordplay he uses...
lyrically the album is ON point.
and honestly.. i began to appreciate the accent too... especially on bagpipes for baghdad...
Its like rapping normal is too easy to him, he needs to add something more
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:13 AM i like bagpipes from bagdad....i think the chorus is funny. and the beat is hot
first song i've liked.
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:14 AM lol@ bagdad song....hes crazy to say the least. lol
THE REED™ 06-09-2009, 11:14 AM what about beautiful?
that was the first song i liked
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:17 AM hello isn't bad...
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:17 AM what about beautiful?
that was the first song i liked
i'm going in order...i'll get there eventually.
Floyd Sinclair 06-09-2009, 11:20 AM i love medicine ball...for some reason, the hook makes me laugh. I actually like the accent now too, but i still dont like the first single he had (we made it, or sumthin like that)
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:21 AM is he talking about raping and killing a girl in same song and dance?
sounds like it. smh
THE REED™ 06-09-2009, 11:22 AM yes he is....
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:25 AM yes he is....
that song is going on my hate list....after every song. i either put it in the like column or hate column....
then in the end, i'll see what i liked from it
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:25 AM I like we made you...
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:27 AM its weird because in the past he use to make songs about killing his wife and mom, and idt didn't bother me. lol I guess I'm getting old, morals are happening a little more now.....in high school i probably wouldn't have cared
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:28 AM i'm listening to medicine ball right now...
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:30 AM i don't like medicine ball, i'm on stay awake now...
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:32 AM stay wide awake has great skilled involved, I see what gold mac means....the chorus real nice
but once again i hate the content
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:34 AM old times sake is good....
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:48 AM Final Verdict

So, I like 8 songs, and dislike 7. So I like half of the CD. If you dont mind sick and twisted rap, its a great a cd. But for people who don't like that style, its has some good songs on it. I don't think its the most skilled ablum I've heard recently, I think Nas's untitled, is better than this. Eminem is very skilled, and extremley talented artist. But the thing is, Eminem has always been great, and this is not his best work. I've been a big fan of Eminem since 1997-1998, and I can say that in my opinion, all his past albums are better than this.
If you like this album, listen to the Eminem Show, or the Marshall Mathers LP, or even the Slim Shady Lp. Even Encore in my opinion is better than this...
Truth 06-09-2009, 11:57 AM there were some songs i would have liked if he was talking about something else....theres alot of good melodies on this album
Kobe Bryant 06-09-2009, 12:05 PM In my opinion this album ****s over Encore. I think it's better than Eminem Show and prodution wise and lyrically it's better than his debut. Marshall Mathers LP will always be his best.
Truth 06-09-2009, 12:20 PM In my opinion this album ****s over Encore. I think it's better than Eminem Show and prodution wise and lyrically it's better than his debut. Marshall Mathers LP will always be his best.
how this is better than the eminem show baffles me....
THE REED™ 06-09-2009, 12:23 PM its not better than the eminem show.
Truth 06-09-2009, 12:29 PM its not better than the eminem show.
thank u reed
Kobe Bryant 06-09-2009, 12:44 PM It's better than the Eminem Show. I can do without or hardly care for Drips, Without Me, Hailie's Song, My Daddy's Gone Crazy.
Relapse I can do without : Same Song and Dance/ We Made You.
It's close looking back at that album. But Relapse is lyrically and schematically better overall. And it's more of a true album.
Kobe Bryant 06-09-2009, 12:46 PM By the way can someone get me that Eminem Show? I can't find my old copy. No virus too thanks.

But Truth.. Encore? Really..? I don't think it's worse than Encore but it definitely can't touch The Eminem Show
Addition 06-09-2009, 01:04 PM I haven't heard the album yet but from what I can see on here, it sounds like it's a good album.
Texasboy34 06-09-2009, 01:20 PM Relapse >>> SSLP, Encore
Relaspse <<< Eminem Show, MMLP
To me this album is in the middle... I'd actually say its a tie with Em Show as his 2nd best, but I cant say its better than Em Show. As someone else said MMLP will always be his best work.
CaRnAgEViOLaToR 06-09-2009, 02:50 PM you dislike underground truth? its one of the best songs of the album imo...beat wise and lyrically.

i was thinkin the same thing too as x89, i thought underground is one of the top songs on the album
i can agree that the content of some tracks is a turnoff like insane would appeal to me much more with different lyrics
i personally like the album but some stuff just isnt for everybody
Tuggers1986 06-09-2009, 06:52 PM In my opinion this album ****s over Encore. I think it's better than Eminem Show and prodution wise and lyrically it's better than his debut. Marshall Mathers LP will always be his best.
He'll never top MMLP. That was him at his best.

Very good cd overall, i give it 4.5/5 and i think its clearly the best cd to come out this year.
Blackout 2 is my favorite cd but this is easily 2nd to me
Truth 06-09-2009, 09:52 PM until cuban linx 2 comes out in august ^ :)
Truth 06-09-2009, 10:04 PM ^^you know whats weird...its fine that u like eminem now. but its weird how you never liked him before....i mean u thought he was talented. but never enough to say he dropped the best album of the year or hes the most talented artist in the game. i wonder what made u an eminem fan now, when hes been around for a long time and u never cared for him. his content is about the same and so is his style. is it just because u never gave him a chance until now? if so, thats great...
its great that your a fan, i'm just curious i guess...

i think i held the fact that he got popular off of corny singles (hi my name is, real slim shady, etc.) against him, and i think part of the reason why is because i listened to rap before eminem was well known. Over the last year or two, i havent really disliked him. I have listened to all of his cds more then a couple times, and I can honestly say that relapse is my favorite. Im not sure why...and im not saying its his best. I have always considered him to be very talented and skilled, but his new cd is hilarious and very catchy.
And i dont think any of his other cds were the best album of the year when they came out, until this one...partially because of the competition not being what it was. And i wouldnt say that i never cared for him, i have made threads about the song "gatman and robin" off the masacre, and about the infinite album. And at no point did i dislike songs like stan, sing for the moment, and the way i am.
I do think that he switched his style up alot on relapse, the way he raps with an accent...which i didnt like at first but i now think its very impressive the way he can switch it up like that. I still dont like the song we made you...and for some reason, i dont think that you think that "its great" that im a fan...im not sure why, but for some reason i get that impression.
I never said that anyone had to agree with me that eminem is the most skilled rapper out, but i do think that he deserves credit for this album, as opposed to criticism. Its good to see a rapper that is lyrical and that can flow selling albums, instead of dumbed down garbage southern music.
And i was wrong to dislike him for my reason, but i have admitted that im a former stan/hater. Most people were when they were younger at one point. I realized a while ago that its not worth gettin caught up in the bull**** about my favorite rappers gettin dissed, cuz then you miss out on good music...thats when i started ****in with g-unit
EDIT: and its not worth gettin caught up in over analyzing my opinions, everyone changes their minds...
Truth 06-09-2009, 10:26 PM well i've been an eminem fan since middle school, so yeah i am happy your a fan now.....
the only place we differ is on relapse. thanks for the response.
Truth 06-09-2009, 10:31 PM EDIT: and its not worth gettin caught up in over analyzing my opinions, everyone changes their minds...
I asked a question, that came with curiousity. And u answered it, thank you.

your welcome, it just seemed like the curiosity came from a deep analysis of my opinion.
