View Full Version : Finally Discovered my ab issue
Wyson 06-09-2009, 10:59 AM i dont know if anyone remembers but i posted a while back about my abs...i have a strong core and overall good muscle mass and low body fat and am in pretty good shape.....i was thinking recently and i discovered why my 6-pack doesnt show... See, i used to be very overweight....i was a fat a**! then i lost all my weight, and started boxing, running, and lifting...every other part of my body shows the muscle except the lower portion of my stomach and i think its because once i lost all the weight...the skin stayed stretched and at closer look....found that to be the case...does anyone know what i can do to deal with this problem besides continuing my workouts? thanks!
Wyson 06-09-2009, 11:15 AM also i just took a body fat % test and i come out at around 15.56%
reedickyaluss 06-09-2009, 11:17 AM u need to be at around 8% to see your 6 pack
holdthatthought 06-09-2009, 12:37 PM it takes awhile for that loose skin to tighten back up.. plus you need to lose some BF..I would say you need to be around 11-12 to see your abs when you flex and below 10% to have your abs show all the time
Šemise 06-09-2009, 12:38 PM How big were you before you lost all that weight?
Wyson 06-09-2009, 05:29 PM i was 200 lbs....dropped down to 150....and then started a workout program and put on 25lbs of muscle.....making me 175
Mr. Shen 06-09-2009, 10:30 PM you can also concentrate on posture which makes a diffrence and keeping your abs flat and tight when your doing situps this works the inside abs? umm transverse abdominals. the transverse abs build a stronger frame for your 6 pack and strengthens your back. stomach vaccumes are also good for the tranv abs
if you add on a few weighted situps into your program like 20 might help 3 times a week or like full situps slowly diffrent placement of your hands to make it more difficult should help the muscle pop out more. At 15% bf you should be able to see a 6 pack if it pops out enough though if you want it defined you will need to drop down to like 8 - 12%.
g0tcha 06-10-2009, 02:39 PM it really all depends on genetics once you start getting close to 10%. there as some guys that are even 15% and they have massive abs and that is either due to genetics or their diet and lifting has caused the abdominals to grow that much. seeing as how yours still hasnt shown up at 15% then you need to drop into the single digit realm which is extremely difficult if you arent doing high cardio and or lifting weights along with a strict diet. once you get your body fat % lower then 10/9 im sure your abs will start to show. it takes time and hard work. no shortcuts.

You are right... well i think so anyway
Body fat percentage for athletes is 10-12%...this is usually the level of which you can see a "6 pack"
Kinetic Linking 06-11-2009, 12:03 AM Assholes are full of shit like most posters here. I'm just mean.

BrooklynBomber 06-12-2009, 03:24 PM What does your diet look like?
Especially since the lower ab portion is the stashing point of your overall bodyfat and water, you might have the water retention problem.

Whats that?

Sometimes, especially if your diet is lacking or has some overabundant nutrients your body will stash the water more easily then give it away and your body definition will suffer.
The key to getting six pack is and was always the right nutrition plan, but it is just damn too much time and effort to explain to you macro and micronutrients and what ratios of these you have to intake to lose the body fat and water.

Me too, but I never thought about getting a six pack back when I was a fat cunt. :D

I agree that it has a LOT to do with diet, but it's not really that complicated in terms of the science. I never looked up what nutrients I had to take in, and how much, when training to get a six pack. I just ate all-natural foods, ate no bread, nothing after 8pm, and did not add any salt to any food (even when I was cooking it). Cooked meat for myself either by steaming or roasting it with no oil. The key is to eat healthy foods, in terms of more vegetables, fruits, and lean meats. It shouldn't get very complicated.
That being said, it's foolish to say that the key to getting a six pack is the right nutrition plan exclusively. I had a friend of mine follow my diet for about a 1.5 months (the amount of time it took me to get a six pack), but he did not even come close because he was doing nowhere near the amount of ab exercises that I was doing when I got my six pack.
It takes diet AND exercise. End of.
