JC Warrior 06-08-2009, 11:34 PM I got in my first tournament after 3 months in the gym. I was neither a fast learner nor a terrific physical specimen, but I did show up every day and pleaded to get a fight. When should YOU get a fight? It might not be for a year or more if you wait for it to come to you, but if you want it get it ASAP. N amount of training in the gym or sparring is going to replicate 4 2 minute rounds or 4 3 minute rounds of an actual fight. The result of which will be you becoming better, win or lose. Kinetic Linking 06-09-2009, 12:04 AM really depends. I'd recommend getting yourself in excellent condition, meaning you're eating and sleeping well enough to maintain an intense conditioning routine. Get some good sparring experience, if the sparring goes well you're ready to fight. rmz 06-09-2009, 01:58 AM To be honest, I would train at least six months. You have to make sure you're in shape and have a legit shot at winning your first fight. I've seen a lot of guys get in there too early, they get sparked and they never show up at the gym again. You gotta train hard first, get prepared, and then you're good to fight. It all depends on how hard you train and how fast you pick up on things. But I'd think 6 months would be the minimum unless you're already in pretty good shape. |
