View Full Version : Pernell Whitakers Greatest Fights? beecherhq 06-08-2009, 06:38 PM Looking to download some fights of his career after seeing how high he is placed in ATG lists. So what do people think are his best fights? Southpaw16BF 06-08-2009, 06:58 PM Jose Luis Ramirez 2 Greg Haugen Azumah Nelson Julio Cesar Chavez Julio Cesar Vasquez Juan Nazario DeepSleep 06-08-2009, 07:29 PM Adding to Southpaw16bf's list I'd also recommend his fight with Buddy Mccgirt. joseph5620 06-08-2009, 10:29 PM Jose Luis Ramirez 2 Greg Haugen Azumah Nelson Julio Cesar Chavez Julio Cesar Vasquez Juan Nazario I would add Rafeal Pineda(junior welterweight title) and the rematch with Buddy McGirt. The rematch with Jose Luis Ramirez was vintage Pernell Whitaker and showcased all of his great skills from his defense, jab, body punches and counter punching. That one is a must. PED User 06-09-2009, 01:49 AM I'd recommend to watch these: Roger Mayweather Buddy McGirt 2 Julio Cesar Chavez Jose Luis Ramirez 2 Rafael Pineda And Diobleys Hurtado, to see an older Whitaker on a bad night pull one out. beecherhq 06-09-2009, 10:25 AM Cheers. Gonna get downloading. poet682006 06-09-2009, 05:39 PM Might want to throw in De La Hoya - Whitaker too: An aging Pernell uncorks one last special performance that many observers (including myself) thought he won. Poet Obama 06-09-2009, 08:03 PM Scored the DLH fight a draw myself. But, it would have been a win without the bull**** WBC point deduction. ИATAS206 06-09-2009, 08:26 PM No one mentioned Diosbelys Hurtado? Not his greatest performance and he was past his prime, but definitely one of the most exciting fights and amazing finishes of his career, without a doubt! And it did show something about Pernell which was never really shown before, how he would react in a desperate situation and behind on the scorecards. poet682006 06-09-2009, 09:57 PM No one mentioned Diosbelys Hurtado? Poet PED User 06-09-2009, 10:55 PM If you want to see more of Whitaker's power-punching (which I actually thought was half-way decent especially when he loaded up on that left), then Nazario, Lomeli, and Rodriguez are good fights to watch. Richie-G 06-10-2009, 01:44 PM ive only seen about 4 or 5 of his fights, and he is amazing to watch, just perfect. where are you guys getting all the fights from? any links would be appreciated :) poet682006 06-10-2009, 02:16 PM Go to the "Video Trading Block" forum: Lots of links to fights you can download. Poet yeykax 06-10-2009, 02:24 PM A true wizard in the defense department!!!!! Richie-G 06-10-2009, 03:22 PM thanks poet |
